Will be skipping this, and sticking with all my other versions I have. Not enough of an improvement for another upgrade. That's just me though.

Does anyone know if there are any differences between the US and UK editions? Will the US have the art cards for example.

why did they include the 2007 1080p Blu-ray and not the 35th anniversary remaster version?

At any rate I doubt I would listen to it. There is nothing wrong with a good 7.1 mix if it's done right for an older film. In fact, it can really bring out a lot of good things for the sound field. But whatever I had this preordered, and I am not canceling. I actually like that they have the older disc, as its color timing is different enough I want that version as well.

Oh well I guess. I won't be too heartbroken though. Mono is usually super confining in films, I just wish it would have been an option.

That is your choice and opinion but a lot us also enjoyed it in its original audio format the only real improvement I am going to assume to having 7.1 would be the soundtrack other than if they have the original audios to work on which I am sure they do or else Mono lossless would have been added also.

Considering you went crazy in the Criterion Midnight Cowboy thread about the PQ (posts were deleted) its funny that you don't give a crap about original audio.

I think Lionsgate slapping the antiquated 2007 BD into the 4K set is far more insulting than the lack of the real mono mix on the actual 4K UHD.

At leas it's inclusion in the Complete Collection LE set made sense there, here's it's absolutely dumb.

They included it for the extras I believe, a cheap decision which makes for a mess of a release. What they should have done is include a new blu-ray with the new remaster and the old extras together, or at least the previous disc, with a separate blu-ray with all the extras from the original blu-ray.

But I woulnd't expect that kind of effort from a major studio these days sadly. I can guarantee Arrow or Synapse would have done it right. They also wouldn't have screwed up the audio.

It wasn't at all condescending. People need to tone things down a notch or two on this site. People are way too up tight.

Movie looks great imo. It's like these reviews have been saying, it just has a darker tone of colors compared to other transfers especially 35th. Very crisp and detailed. Minimal grain imo. I like this transfer but that's just me. HDR viewing though, don't have a 4K player that supports Dolby Vision.

Colors are off due to camera phone.

There was. It was included in the fully packed initial collector's set from Scream Factory. The added scenes were in SD though unfortunately. I'd love a blu ray for the extended version (with the 35th anniversary edition transfer) as I prefer that one even more than the theatrical version.

Why are people trying to get this already from Target? Isn't official street date on Tuesday? I thought their system would also prevent from checking out early even if they were on the floor early or got it from the back through the unknowing employee.

Right, but it can be that kind of uptick in quality sometimes. So what? Would you rather we didn't have them available at all? Get all the minute updates in clarity/sound/color through streaming? Talk about barely noticeable upgrades, unless internet speeds are magically fixed on a global scale.

Not trying to be a turd, I really want to know.

I think something happened when the online pre-orders sold out that killed off the "pre-order" incentive for Target, hence why it's now a free for all with in-store copies.

This format is flourishing -- selling in numbers that even its strongest supporters never expected.
