Never could get into Army of Darkness but I'd still love to see the entire series get released sooner than later.
Same here.

Evil Dead 2 wins by a small margin for me over the first. Never could get into Army though, too much slapstick and not enough horror.

Where's the "The" in the title? Hahaha!

The original Evil Dead holds a special place in my heart, I saw it with my uncle in the theater. It was a real blast, people were screaming jumping out of their seats, some yelling at the screen it was full audience participation. When it first came out on VHS rented it several times, until I finally purchased it on VHS and then DVD.

I've always loved the U.K. artwork. It reminds me of the old Hammer Horror artwork.

Very happy to see another 4K transfer of an older horror movie. Although the last one was soooo good I see very little they can do to improve the 16mm transfer with a limit of around 2k. It's going to be color/contrast that will the bigger difference than any slight increase in detail.

An interesting note "book of the dead" website did some scans of the trailers and compared the aspect ratios here
http://www.bookofthedead.ws/website/..._trailers.html

Its well worth checking out.

Thanks for this. Now I *really* need to rewatch it. Honestly, I hadn't watched it after that since it sort of ruined some scenes for me.

But after seeing what people were posting, that's what I was hoping, and glad to hear it confirmed.

I am assuming that this will be the revised version with the missing / altered shots?

To address what people are saying about this so far:

This link details the changes:
http://www.bookofthedead.ws/website/..._dead_dvd.html

No shot are missing, don't know where that came from, but all the changes are rather minor and are nowhere near to the point that i'd consider it to be a 'revisionist release'. They're all there to fix minor errors that had been present in the film (such as a shot being flipped the wrong way, crew member being visible, lens flairs, mattes being not perfectly blended). Nothing new has been added to the film digitally like with Star Wars.

It'd be nice for there to be at least an option to have a fully un-tampered with presentation, but the current one is honestly very respectful and is not a case of terrible presentation at all.

There is also no DNR or tealing which would be obvious if you cared to look into the previous blu, but it doesn't really matter anyway).
