It's definitely a good movie to enjoy. A popcorn movie, sure, but a very fun one

I enjoyed it, it’s definitely the best Terminator movie since T2, but I feel the same way about this as I do about most big budget action/sci-fi movies that have come out recently. It was good, sure, but I don’t know how eager I am to watch it again. Linda Hamilton and Arnold were great in it, but I didn’t love some of the plot points and I felt it was a little repetitive.

I think the critics consensus on rottentomatoes really nailed it:

”Terminator: Dark Fate represents a significant upgrade over its immediate predecessors, even if it lacks the thrilling firepower of the franchise's best installments.”

100% agree.

I saw it last night and thought it was good in a more of the same kinda way. Third best T film after 1 and 2. It was good to have Linda and Arnie back together.

[SPOILER]Anyone have any idea how
[Show spoiler]Sarah knew the Major who brought her the EMP and what sort of hold she had over him?

Probably just an acquaintance she made over the years

Just read this on CBR.com.Would've been great if this was actually in the film
[Show spoiler]It's a wonderfully unexpected twist that Sarah has allies in the military who trust her and her work. It even could tie into the end of the film, when Sarah agrees to train Dani so she too can fight against the machines. Maybe Sarah has been recruiting all of the people she's saved fighting Terminators and has effectively been building the human resistance decades early so that if and when some form of A.I. turns on humanity, they're ready for it.

And the Major, whoever he is, could be the key to it all.

The film is already long enough as is, but that could have been included later in the way of deleted scenes...

Could've done without 'the kids are alright' future scene.

Probably somehow similar to how she met Enrique in T2. i.e we don't know, and its not really relevant to the currently ongoing plot.

She's had many decades to meet people, and convince them of the impending doom. Also of note, its the first actual T1 sequel to not feature Silverman in some capacity.
[Show spoiler]The T2 footage from Pescadero, while a nice touch, was clearly cut to not include Silverman, though I think its one of the unused takes from T2. The "anyone not wearing two million sunblock..." line delivery is a bit different.

As I said, I think the Sara Connor side was squandered a bit and left mostly untapped.

I think that's where a potential Sarah and Dani-centric sequel may benefit if one is ever made.

[Show spoiler]Delving into Sarah's life after John's untimely demise at the hands of Carl. Comparing and contrasting her life during the past years, with Dani's current life and training to become "this great military leader..."(read in Edward Furlong's mocking voice from T2).

Anyway, as I said, I think its a fun movie overall. Still nowhere as good as T2, don't think anything can be anymore, but still leagues better than Rise and Genisys.

Still not sure where to put it in the rating list. Either in position #3 after T1 ( a bit separated though), or in 4 after Salvation, but far above Rise.

Hope to see an extended edition on 4k blu. I'm sure a lot of stuff ended up in the cutting room floor to get it down to just over 2 hours.

Also, I'll say it again, I think its time for Arnold to hang up the proverbial endoskeleton. Let CGI and a body double take it from here if they want to keep his likeness attached to the T-800. I want to see a young T-800 again.
[Show spoiler]Carl was fun and all but c'mon.

Liked DF, it may have to grow on me, but I like it. Here's my take:

1. The Terminator
2. Terminator 2: Judgment Day
3. Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (atleast the Coming Storm fan edit) / Terminator: Dark Fate
4. Terminator Genisys
5. Terminator Salvation

It’s funny I asked darth.vader that CG question earlier. This movie is complete buffoonery when it comes to CG. They didn’t even put the bare minimum of common sense into how anything moves in the real world. I haven’t paid to watch nonsense like this in a long time.

Stuff looked real enough to me, at least as far as "real" you can expect in a movie about killer robots from the future. And Mckenzie looked sooooo buff.... it was just super sexy.

Maybe it looks real enough in comparison to all of those comic book movies, but this was an insult to any form of intelligence. Bob did a much better job in working with Jimbo on Alita, where the CG was fabulous.

No, his name was Major Dean. Definitely not Dyson.
