As for your questions about TT's business model, others here have answered that as well or better than I could. However, I will take your mistaken assumption about my role with this company as a compliment. One could be associated with much worse.
Nicely put, Rock. I have become a big fan of Twilight Time also, and like you look forward each month to the latest announcements, the unveiling of the cover art for upcoming releases, and getting their BDs in the mail and watching them. I also like the fact that December brings three releases in one month. Hopefully, that trend continues into the new year.

I have become a TT completist based on the strength of their releases. About half have been blind buys of films I have heard of but never seen, or never heard of. Rapture falls into the latter category, and is the one that made me sit up and pay attention. It is still the best surprise in their lineup and in my opinion their best release to date.

Also very cool of Nick Redman to pay a visit to this thread.

I sensed something unusual was up when the same label that had released The Egyptian and Mysterious Island was also doing Rapture, Fright Night, The Roots of Heaven, and Kim Novak movies! I think it's that genre and era eclecticism which brings such a wild range of posters and opinions to these boards. Try to find a through-line sometimes...

I didn't even see that one until after I posted oildude, and when I did, briefly debated deleting mine. Glad he posted though just to set the record straight. Again, what can I say, class act all round.

Everyone thought I worked for tt when I started this thread. I think a mod delete the first 20 posts in the thread, because all of it was hate directed at me for the pricing.

I too can vouch for Rock not being aligned with TT and I can also say he was kind enough to assist me with my TT magnet collection when we did a swap.
I too am a big fan of TT, I have bought many of their releases not all but many and I don't think they are too highly priced. They are a boutique distributor and they have been selling well, so clearly we are not the only ones that appreciate their work.
I am looking forward to their pre-orders this month, planning on ordering both NOTLD and Enemy Mine along with couple of their other releases i haven't got around to yet (Rapture and Swamp Water)
Keep up the good work and good on you Rock for being positive on a thread not negative like so many seem to be.

I've enjoyed every Twilight Time release, that I've bought, so far, and I don't really mind the prices that they charge....

EVERY Blu-Ray was AT LEAST $29.99 when the format first launched. So, I'm not upset about paying the premium price for the premium product. Sure, I love the fact that Blu-Ray prices are much lower these days, but Twilight Times prices surely aren't unheard of, considering the history of this format.

Plus, these are limited editions, so if you end up not caring for the Blu-Ray you can probably get a nice profit for it after you sell it on eBay.

That Enemy Mine cover makes me laugh every time - definitely a disc where I'll substitute the booklet for the cover. I wish TT included the original poster art on the reverse like Shout does.

I guess the cover represents the human vs the alien arm wrestling? Looks more like a handshake to a lot of people. The cover has zero impact on my purchase decision, but just about anything would look better than what Enemy Mine is getting. I do like what they did for NOTLD.

glad you're happy w/ it, but i always laugh when reviewers or users here say a film looks "as good as it did when it came out!" movie theaters in 1989 did not look as clean & clear as modern HDTVs

New suggestion for a TT release, I'm on my third now.
Saw this on tv over the weekend for the second time, love this movie.
"Father is a Bachelor" from 1950 with William Holden.

So my wishlist now consists of:

"King Rat" - 1965 with George Segal
"Shampoo" - 1975 with Warren Beatty; and
"Father is a Bachelor" - 1950 with William Holden

Hope Nick Redman is still watching this thread

With Sony licensing their titles, I'm wondering if the Sony Pictures Classics series is available to license? I'd love to see some of Pedro Almodóvar's films like All About My Mother, Bad Education, and Talk To Her on blu-ray with English subtitles.

I was a little surprised that my order of Steel Magnolias & The Sound and the Fury did not arrive on Friday as the Screen Archives orders normally tend to - turns out the postman delivered the order to my neighbor by mistake. She brought them over on Saturday.

On Friday I plan on ordering a couple of titles with Night of the Living Dead. At the moment the two that stand stand out to me most are Bye Bye Birdie and Picnic. I'm not sure if I've seen Picnic and I'm pretty certain I haven't seen Bye Bye Birdie but they look appealing to me.

I just placed an order for THE WAYWARD BUS.

As some of you may recall, I mentioned a prostate cancer diagnosis last month. Nick Redman corresponded with me privately was very supportive. I decided that, if I got encouraging news from my doctor, I would start picking up some of the Twilight Time releases that I had previously let pass. Having met with my doctor today, I'm informed that this is a very early, likely slow growing disease that won't require immediate treatment. They will just "watch" it...which requires regular PSA tests and another biopsy in a year or so. The bottom line being that I'm in not going to drop dead in the immediate future (sorry ) and, when this does require intervention, the doctors will be prepared.

So I've placed my first post-diagnosis order with Twilight Time. I have many TT titles but I went back to review some that I don't have. While not a critical darling or big blockbuster, THE WAYWARD BUS looks to fit the bill. Black and white CinemaScope is a favorite of mine. I noticed several actors that I like: Dan Dailey and even Rick Jason from the old COMBAT! TV show. And it will be fun to see Jayne Mansfield and Joan Collins on Blu. Plus I'm a sucker for old "road" pictures (buses, dusty roads).

I expect to begin catching up on a few more of the older releases.

Both excellent but very different movies. I don't have the TT Blu-ray of PICNIC although it's high on the list of those titles I hope to get soon.

I do have the BD of BYE BYE BIRDIE and I've been an unashamed and huge fan of the film for many years. BIRDIE is one of those ridiculously happy films that I can watch over and over again. It's much lighter in tone than PICNIC. As far as I'm concerned (and I say this with the admitted bias of a superfan), The TT Blu-ray of BYE BYE BIRDIE is a no-lose proposition. It's a wonderful transfer of a wonderful film with unlimited playback potential.
