No fireworks then, it was a professional performance rather than a polished one from the French and the Belgians never quite clicked into gear. It was decided by - what else? - a set-piece. Whoever wins tomorrow won't be overawed going into Sunday's final.

Hard to split(no pun intended)Croatia and England,I’m really not sure who will win that one although two extra time games with pens probably won’t have helped the Balkan State.

Winners get to play in arguably the biggest game in football while the losers get to play in possibly the worst.

The main question is, during half time, does Southgate order his men down the tunnel that comes out underneath the big bathtub in the dressing room, to freedom? Or does he lead them back out on the pitch to try and win it?

They left Sly out the squad so he can't provide any PK heroics this time.

HT then, England have been by far the better team. Not the greatest team ever, but better than Croatia which is all that matters right now. They haven't abandoned their philosophy of playing out from the back although they're definitely pinging more balls over the top in an effort to get runners behind the Croatian rearguard, if Hendo could get his radar zeroed in then we'd have had a few more dangerous situations. As it is it feels a bit aimless, but Vida needs to make that challenge on the last man perfectly every time and can he keep it up for another 45 mins? Hmm.
