I am wondering in your opinion which movie has the best PQ and HDR. I currently have Martian, Life of Pi, Sicario, Pineapple Express, Watchmen, and both Star Treks. Quality on Martian, Life of Pi, and the Into the darkness are fantastic.
Looking for other good examples of 4K transfers that I may be missing out on. Open to any suggestions. |

>a bunch of shitty upscaled movies have the best picture quality
Now I've heard everything. You people are the reason why they keep getting away with spoonfeeding us garbage quality, again and again. Anyways OP, it's obviously The Smurfs 2 as that is the only one that was filmed and digitally mastered in 4K through its entire process. Shitty movie, amazing PQ. |

BvS was also great PQ but another dark movie. Both movies have heavy grain which screws with the PQ IMO |

I don't have any 4K equipment yet but I am thinking about upgrading, though I have not made up my mind yet. I do have the Star Trek Into Darkness regular blu and those Imax scenes looks so stunning that I keep telling myself how much better can this look? So my question for those who owns the 4K version: How much better it is? And is it worth the expenses of upgrading my equipment?

OTOH, the HDR in both this and Star Trek (2009) is a worthy upgrade. Just don't expect the non-IMAX segments to look jaw dropping and you will be good to go. |
