Well, I have just watched The Patriot, its been awhile (2012) since I last watched it and it really doesn't stand up to today's standards, it really does look 'harsh', is the best way to describe it.

Shame this never got a 'Mi4K' release.

Hopefully the rumour of a 4K master is true and gets the treatment it deserves.

At least it was better than the Superbit DVD though:

It's no rumour, the movie is available in 4K on Sony's 'prestige pack' hard drive add-on thingy (and I'm guessing the US-based 4K Unlimited download service too). Do you like the movie that much though?

Thought it might be.

As for the film itself, it isn't a masterpiece by any means, but I do enjoy it.

Hopefully Japan see's a 'Mi4K' release, seeing as they have been getting a couple more. On the subject of 'Mi4K' releases, The Tourist is up on Caps-a-holic:

It'a tatty old master with filtering baked into it. I tossed it and kept the US HD DVD. It looks lovely, open-matted or not.
