I wouldn't call it a grain structure, its more of a smudgy artifacting blocky mess structure.

This got a 5/5 from Svet. Criterion titles usually get higher marks than other labels. From the review it seems he didn't notice the compression artifacts.

Re: Trainspotting (German release)

The current blu (released 29th Aug 2013) will only play in English with forced foreign language subs.

As I purchased the DE edition as a result of the information in this thread, I thought it best to report back so that the info can be updated and others are aware - maybe someone could update the OP??

The leftover space on the disc is used for a "bonus movie" presentation of "The Final Countdown (1980) in a 3D conversion. I did not test this at all. There are also some extras for the Final Countdown (couple of trailers and some B-Roll interview stuff).
