The BDInfo scan for the Japanese BD is here.
waiting for a cheaper Hong Kong release with the original Dolby Atmos mix has been painful ... I'm almost doubting it will happen at all.

Your comment about "Eli" made me check out the Amazon.de site where I ran into the old list I'd given up on, so I thought I'd re-ask about 3 of them in case anyone sees this that didn't before:

The Rundown - DE AVC vs. MPEG-2, but no “Best PQ” - any real diff?

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow - DE AVC vs. US MPEG-2, but JP is “Best PQ” - any real upgrade from the US to the DE?

Training Day - DE VC-1 vs US MPEG-2 - any notable upgrade?

And the specs appear to be pretty close to the AU disc.

Don't own them but knowing they are same master you will se very little diffrence in motion if you have a screen smaller than 60 inch I would guess. Often those higher bitrates gets you better compression more visible in darker scenes.

For me on 65 inch and under 3m from the calibrated telly I will probably buy it some day even if I own UK disc already. Just to have the best It's not that expensive either for a JP disc, Dredd and others is much worse.

With regards to The Book of Eli, being shot digitally, the difference due to bitrate is going to be small. The main benefit of having a higher bitrate is when it comes to banding and owning the UK and currently the Danish (same as the Australian) release, I did spot more banding in the UK release, although I cannot comment on the JP release.

With the DK and AU releases being Sony, they do feature SBMV which decreases banding as well.

In terms of AQ, any of the releases with 24-bit are the best options. Any audible difference? Probably minimal, but those who use this list like figures.

Well I have a projector so I have a 120 inch screen. It's just been my experience that once you reach a certain birate then it doesn't get much better. And yeah I do own the Dredd. cost a fortune but ohh man what a disc.

Most of the time it's padded zeros. Particularly on films 1993-2008

I bought the AU disc from Ebay for $15.33 USD/$20.93 AUD shipped. No brainier at that price.

Does anyone know if the U.K. Lionsgate 15th Anniversary BD of American Psycho has the same picture quality as the Australian Sony release?

I've got the disc but I want to be sure I've bought the right release. Information regarding the transfer is really scarce online.

There isn't any information about it in this thread either.

Can anyone confirm if there is a difference/better encode in any of the Blood Diamond releases?

The UK listing on this site shows a higher bitrate but I read elsewhere its still in the low 10s. there is also the Japanese release that came out a few years later but no specs listed.

I noticed that the Australian version of Monster is not on the list:

It's sourced from the same poor master as the U.S. version, however the encode is VC-1.
