It has been a while since I watched this, but if I recall, there are instances where the exchanged between the foreign antagonists are subtitled. If that is correct, then I guess the FR blu is out for me. The DE, UK and CA would seem to be the best alternatives. What is the general issue with the US release other than it being a lower bitrate?

i own both US and UK disc and to me the US is way better than UK...much better compression...

what do you think of German release of Black Sunday?? surely it's better compressed but it appears to have some black crush...

I like DE a touch more, better compression and don't see black crush just different gamma setting on same master.

Is there a reason Angel Heart isn't on the list? Read somewhere that people said the US had a newer scan but looking at caps I only see better compression and a little better colors on the DE that has higher bitrate.

From forum: the German BD as well as its Australian cousin are piss-poor. Colour timing is way off and framing is off a good deal as well. At this point in time I would recommend the Japanese BD over the German/Australian BDs, not a home-run but for the moment a good deal better than its competition, plus it actually has some decent archival extras to offer.

I think it was a significant upgrade. However, I probably would be careful how much you spend as JP releases tend to be expensive.
