Very polite response and problem dealt with (although web page still not corrected
![]() "I called Mr. Koyama at NBC Universal Entertainment Japan LLC and found that the movie Blu-ray disc is region free while two extra DVDs (not Blu-rays) are region 2. The region code for two extra DVDs should have been a big factor of your purchasing decisions, yet this information is not available on our catalog page nor manufacturer's website. I am terribly sorry for the disappoint caused." Thanks, TOWTP. Weird about that Region 2 DVD thing. Looks like even the Amz.jp bosses didn't know ... Unrelated Q : it appears from checking that the JP "Dredd" has the same extras as the US release EXCEPT it doesn't have the "Dredd Motion Comic" (unless I missed it at 2:30 AM). If correct, I'll be keeping the US disc - not that I expect to ever get a 3D monitor (and I suppose my Oppo doesn't do 3D either, but who knows?) ... ![]() Last edited by Early Memphis; 01-10-2017 at 06:31 PM. |

I see you updated the first post.
This is the type of "helpful" images around the internet that confuses folks, imo. On the one hand it gives out Regions A, B and C for blu-ray but muddies the water by attributing numbers to each letter which I sincerely doubt the BDA ever intended. No wonder people get confused thinking DVD and BD regions are one and the same. It also doesn't help when some, usually smaller, studios/distributors stick to using the DVD region logos on their releases. |

So Shooter is getting another release this month and so far according to the specs it's the same tired Dolby Digital lossy encoding.
Unbelievable they couldn't at least re-encode the audio 10 years after the initial release. I guess it's worth the $4 it often goes for, but a little baffled that it hasn't shown up somewhere in the world with a lossless or uncompressed audio track. |

Fortunately here in the UK we can play Japanese DVD's as our players are PAL/NTSC standard and our TVs. Last edited by jonam; 01-19-2017 at 05:21 PM. |

For any fans of the movie Judgment Night the German region free Concorde blu ray is great. The transfer is solid with correct color timing (this blu ray is dark enough that it covers up visible goofs noticeable on previous home media releases and there's no black level issues whatsoever) and the audio is excellent. Who knows when this will ever get a US release since Warner owns the rights and if they release it it'll likely get a BD-R instead of being pressed. Hopefully it'll get the treatment Warner gave Stephen King's catalog releases last year but its unlikely so this current edition is a very safe purchase.

Warner doesn't do BD-R. If you are thinking about their Warner Archive BDs they are pressed and not burned.
