Which one do you think looks better on the US? To my eye, I'd say each one the German one is just a slight notch better, like 51-49. There's one where the US clearly has a bit more picture info, but not to any particular advantage that I can see. But I do agree that it's not enough to pursue an upgrade right now.

Numbers 2 and 11 are the ones with more fine detail on the US disc. With the rest it's just a matter of framing.

I don't agree with you on those two, but looking again, I think the German #7 is too sharp. It looks at bit artificial, which makes me wonder about some of the rest of them.

IMHO slightly better compression on the UK but the Criterion has great extras and still looks extremely nice.

OK, in those close-ups I can see what you are seeing better. The first one, I would need to see it in action, because it's too close for me to have a strong preference, but I see what you mean. On the second one, I don't get it; the BG detail looks slightly (but noticeably) better, but to me Malcolm himself looks less slightly worse. He looks really soft there.

But, to be clear, the reason I'm going back to the well and asking is just that I'm pretty sure you have a better idea what you're looking for than I do. With this comparison, I think we agree it's nitpicking, but trying to figure out what is better on something where the difference is so narrow is helpful to me.

Glad to see you're back, HD. Someone told me once, when I was a newbie and got suspended, that you're not a member here until you get suspended at least once. You're far from a newbie (and probably weren't a suspension "virgin"), but some folks on this site can drive anyone over the edge.
