Not too sure to be honest, you would need to ask HD to chime in on this one as it's his list.

I assumed that the US disc was censored and the German isn't, although it used to be which is why I just ordered it.

Like Ben_R said you might want to wait for Goofnut for this but from my knowledge a lot of films that get released in other countries other than the US get cut by their censory boards for various reasons.....mainly because they feel it isn't acceptable or to give it a lower certificate rating so more audiences can see it. Not really sure why but Goofnut might know more about it.

That's correct. That's one of the reasons I wait for BDInfo scans so you can see the runtimes. A few seconds usually just means logo difference, but more than that throws up a red flag in my book.

So the US disc is censored? Im just asking because I know sometimes things were cut in Germany in the UK worse than they were here.

No its not censored. The NSM release is a much better disc overall.

That's correct. There is 1 cut of Halloween 4 and 5 that is the uncut version (regular version for US). There have been other cuts in the past in other countries on other home media formats that have had edits made to them but I believe every blu ray release for Halloween 4 and 5 are all the uncut version now. The German upgrade is an upgrade on PQ and AQ and it is much better than the US version which was awful IMO. I have the Austrian region free steelbook for Halloween 4 by NSM that I've heard is possibly the same version as the German release as well but I am not 100% on that but if it's the NSM version it should be.

Your post made me look this up ... Why does the BRDC review refer to a "longer Japanese cut" when the US BD is listed at 97 min and the JP is listed at 96? Oh, rats, the longer version was apparently only released on DVD - did it help much? Does the JP DVD look better than the US BD? In any case, that JP BD is just a bit pricey for me [￥ 4,613 > $40.71 w/o shipping ] ...

Just sat down to watch the DE release of The Big Hit and I have to say that I can't agree with the 'Best PQ' designation on this. The sharpness setting on this disc is set to kill (it really is that bad throughout the film) and I'm considering getting the US disc instead.

I don't think either are great, I just can't stomach the overzealous sharpening going on here. If the US seems more natural to me then I'd go for that unless someone does a fresh, new scan.

I wish we got JP transfer with DE audiotracks and the japanese cut in HD with all extras from both. That would be the ultimate package. Too bad Turbine didn't get the JP transfer, that would have made a big difference.
