Some might say it's sharpened but look at the basketball shot and the McDonald's shot. You can see the faces on the players and in the crowd - they're just blurs on the DE version. The text on the McDonald's menu is legible in the USA version too. You can't pull details like that just sharpening.

Updated Howard the Duck. The masters for both the AU and DE discs are identical, but the DE disc has slightly better compression. On the flip side the AU disc is region free and has English subs.

Added The Red Violin. The CA disc has better PQ/AQ, but the ES disc has English subs throughout the entire film instead of just for the non-English parts.
