Well I have the French version with a high birate and the answer is no. It has HD audio as well but.....it all needs to be remastered badly.

The only issue is that it's also region B locked like the FR disc. That's why I went with paying $40 for the JP disc a couple years ago so that I could play it on any of my players and not just the one.

Yeah, considering the low bitrate compared to the JP and FR releases, the PQ is pretty much the same, apart from the JP/FR releases having slightly better grain representation, although the IT disc copes better with the grain in some of the screen caps.

Also, the IT disc features a 24-bit audio track, JP/FR is 16-bit, but that doesn't mean better AQ.

Any of these releases are good.

This is out in many countrys now and seems they all shared same black crush transfer so you can remove it unless JP has something special?

The Korean, Japanese, Czech, Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish versions of Babel (the picture Inarritu did before Birdman) all have lossless audio according to the site's database. I have the Japanese release and can confirm for that one. It's Dolby Digital on the U.S. release.
