Drive
US/CA - AVC 34.99Mbps, DTS-HD MA 5.1 3297 kbps 24-bit, extras, English subs (Region A locked)
UK - AVC 27.10Mbps, LPCM 2.0 / DTS-HD MA 5.1 24-bit, extras, English subs (Region B locked)
CZ - AVC 25.956 kbps, DTS-HD MA 5.1 3221 kbps 24-bit, extras from US and UK releases except for the Q&A from the UK release and it also has several exclusive mini-interviews, no English subs (Region free)
KO (Nova Media Exclusive release) - AVC 34.99Mbps, DTS-HD MA 5.1 24-bit, extras, English subs (Region free)
NL - AVC, DTS-HD MA 5.1 24-bit. Same extras as US, only missing: 'Drive Without a Driver'. But has an exclusive 65 min 'NWR' bonus feature (Region B)
FR - AVC 26555 Kbps, DTS-HD MA 5.1 1742 kbps 16-bit, some extras, Forced French subs (Region B)

I own the French disc, can confirm the subtitles are foced. But it does come with "Drive Without a Driver' feature. In HD. And a making of in SD quality. Found the bitrates from a French review.

Added the French specs.

In terms of extras, I think the best release is the belgium one from Cinéart.
Because it brings the documentary movie called "NWR" in HD.

I'm surprised no one has bought the Japanese edition of Drive. It comes with a director's commentary and could "theoretically" have a higher bit-rate, not that it needs one... in this case, the US/CA/KR edition has 5/5 PQ.

NL/BE is the same disc. All part of the Benelux region.

Discs from Japan are expensive. Only it sucks, the extras are worldwide spread.

Does anyone know why the FR or JP release has the best PQ? Are there any screenshots to back up that statement?

Is the U.S release of The Proposition VC1 or AVC?

This thread states AVC, however the database says VC1:

US - AVC 14.99 Mbps, Dolby TrueHD 5.1 3347 kbps, 24-bit, more extras, English subs (Region free)
UK - AVC 19.99 Mbps, DTS- HD MA 5.1 1856 kbps, 16-bit, extras, no English subs (Region free)

The UK 2D PQ is poor (probably the worst?) and the French 2D PQ looks way better - watched them both a few times. I actually prefer the 3D though.

The French and JP have the right balance for the 2D version. The rest that I've seen are either too bright to compensate for the 3D encoding, or too damn dark, (Polish and HK discs). However, I hate the overcooked 5.1 mix that ended up everywhere, except the US and JP discs. Therefore, for me, the JP wins for 2D.

Is there anywhere to purchase it that isn't around $45?

The cheapest I can find is a 2nd hand non-steelbook version from tunesonlineUS and they're rep isn't the best. It's just over $31 shipped to the UK, but hopefully cheaper for yourself as they're US based.

What are the chances they're actually selling the Japanese disc and not the US one?

Any confirmation if Snowpiercer Hong Kong version is 1:85 aspect ratio, it says so here.

Does anyone know which version of Killer Klowns is the better release, the US MGM or UK Arrow?

I have read that the Arrow release is struck from the same transfer as the US release but can seem to find anymore info.

I'm particularly interested in comparing FR vs. JP. vs. SE/DK/NO/FI for best 2D PQ.

Will compare the screenshots of the French release with the SE/DK/NO/FI release.
It uses the same master as the HK release, but with better compression.

Are there any screenshots of the JP release floating around?

It is 1:85.1 according to a review on Amazon.com that compares several releases. I don't really trust the reviewer because she wrote a lot of bullcrap in the review, like praising the PQ of the first Italian release which looks bad from what I've seen on caps-a-holic.
