The Germans have been pretty good on showing Danish films some high def lovin' lately, certainly more than the Danes have themselves. Have picked up a few here and there.

Why would it have English subtitles on a German disc? I'm not complaining, just surprised.

You'd be surprised. A good many of DE discs have English subs. Even more surprising is that most of the H.K., KR, and JP BDs have English subs.

I wish more Japanese discs had English subtitles. I might pay the exorbitant prices if I could actually have some.

I know, I'm taking more about stuff like DBZ, Godzilla, tokusatsu, etc. The audience for that stuff overseas, though small, is loyal. You'd think that would count towards English subtitles, but maybe it's more expensive than I'm guessing. It looks like that German disc of Nightwatch doesn't.

Well, the ES disc of Nightwatch is one to get. However, neither it or the DE disc has English subs. Luckily, the film is in English.

HD, I think he is talking about the original danish film not the remake.

I thought that as well, but the Criterion disc seems to have more natural colors.

Either the screenshot-taker on caps-a-holic or Criterion have made a mistake, because the difference in color is most likely caused by BT601/709 conversion mistake. With a quick correction the caps-a-holic Criterion screenshots show colors similar to the MOC screenshots: http://screenshotcomparison.com/comp...0483/picture:0

Is it true the best Blu-ray disc release for NIKITA (1990) is the one below? No idea if Caps-a-Holic has any comparisons with this one. Already own the USA Sony release. I don't care about dubbed audio tracks.

Added Snow White: A Tale of Terror, The Man with a Movie Camera, and The Raven (1963). The Raven is another excellent example of Shout's poor encoding. You have a film with nearly double the bit rate of the AT disc, yet the AT disc has better compression.

Nah can't think it would be better since Sony did a amazing job with US disc and if you really don't need the extra feature then buy cheap US.
