These Final Hours
US - No release
CA - AVC 21999 kbps 2.40:1, English DTS-HD MA 5.1 3436 kbps 24-bit, English subs, No Extras (Region A locked)

It looks like there is an Australian release already out and an upcoming release in Germany, but I don't have any information on either.

Default Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

A few questions for any folks that own the JP release of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and/or are familiar with the availability of Geneon Universal releases:

1. Looks like this bd is out of stock on most sites, and I’ve noticed that some other sought after Geneon releases (T2: Premium Edition and a couple others that I’m having trouble recalling) either have very limited or no stock remaining among sites such as amazon.jp, yesasia, and hmv japan. Is Geneon one of these boutique distributors that licenses titles for brief periods (a la Twilight Time)?

2. I realize that the JP release has a better codec and TrueHD vs DD audio compared to the US release, but is the video upgrade noticeably better when considering the intentionally soft, sepia toned presentation of the film? I totally realize this is a subjective question, but I'm trying to determine if it’s worth shelling out 50 bucks plus shipping for a new copy thru playasia.com or paying more than 40 bucks shipped for a “very good” copy (and I don’t even know what that entails since google is providing a comical translation) on amazon.jp.

3. Or, is any frequenter of this thread who owns this looking to part with their copy?

They should all be identical as I think it's handled by Universal globally.

But is it not the same transfer as is used in the Universal releases?

I put in an order with Amazon.jp the other day, but just realized I forgot to include a title that I wanted. I asked them via email if they could add the title to the order, however I received a generic response, telling me to cancel the order and to resubmit it if I want to add the title. With having to do this, I was thinking that I may also add a few other titles. This brings me to my question. Are the individual Japanese versions of The Transporter and Transporter 2 (which are listed as being distributed from Kadokawa Entertainment), the same discs that are in the twin pack, which is listed as being from Sony Pictures?

Should be identical JP re-releases. So yes, I would say these would make good import options. I have been meaning to import the first two Transporter Blu-ray releases from JP sometime now that they are (somewhat) less expensive and are arguably the best editions worldwide.

So im looking into picking up the punisher 2004. Im getting the fr orr au version however I was looking at the ger version and unlike all the other editions it has DTS-HD MA instead of Dolby TrueHD. Does anyone know if it's a 24 bit track? Or just 16 bit like all the Dolby TrueHD discs?

Are we sure it has DTS-HD MA? It's a Sony release as well, just like the UK release which had TrueHD. Seems odd that they would only use DTS for the German version when most of these releases are identical across all regions. It's hard to tell from the back cover image on Amazon.de.

Oh well I was just going by the listing on this site. But yeah they all are from Sony so this site probably got it wrong.

It's now OOP here in Australia. Based on the Amazon UK listing it appears to be there as well (perhaps a UK member can confirm this). I bought a copy recently for someone. I checked with JB HiFi first, they had zero copies within the company. I then checked other retailers with no luck. Ezydvd.com.au still has it listed on their website:

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/blu-ray/pun...-ray/dp/803741

which is where I decided to order it from, however not long after I placed the order it was showing that it was on backorder. I knew from this that they likely wouldn't be able to get it from the distributor, so I decided to cancel my order. There was only one other site that had it listed, and were showing 5 in stock. I ordered through them, and received it about a week. They had sourced it from New Zealand (it actually arrived unsealed, however the disc was in flawless condition despite this), as it had a NZ ratings logo stuck over the top of the Australian ratings logo. I checked the site just before responding to your post, the other 4 copies are sold now too, so Ebay would probably be your best bet if you are wanting an Australian copy, unless you want to try your luck with Ezydvd.

I have the Alliance double feature from Canada and the first film contains DTS-HD MA. However, there are no English subs.

Hopefully someone can provide the bitrates soon, and perhaps screen caps as well.

So, the AU edition is confirmed to have a Dolby TrueHD track?
