That may be true in motion, but there's no denying that the Shout transfer is superior.

Oh it has the better contrast, undoubtedly. I'm not sure I care enough about the differences in colours and framing.

That's also how I feel about Shout's version of Midnight Run. The German disc is perfectly fine to me.

Streets of Fire is another story, however.

The US release uses VC-1 encoding, while the Japanese release uses AVC. Beyond that, I have no idea if it's any better or worse.

Looks like the Polish BD of Con Air has a different encoding from other releases. There appears to be less DNR.

I requested a copy of this via one of my work colleagues, who goes to Poland every year to see his in-laws.

While it's not really up for debate that Con Air needs a remaster, I found the Polish VC-1 disc easier to watch. The lack of DNR and better compression makes for a much more pleasant viewing experience. In comparison, and despite having a fairly decent bitrate, the AVC release is horrible and belongs in the trash.

Audio wise, they're comparative, same for the extras. The only thing going for the AVC release, are fancy motion menus.

If there's a release with both the lossless original mono/stereo mix and also a lossless 5.1 remix, the original mono mix is the victor. IDGAF if a movie has a 5.1 or 7.1 unneeded remix, I want to know if the ORIGINAL CINEMATIC AUDIO IS RETAINED AND LOSSLESS/UNCOMPRESSED!

Is the mono included on the US release a downmix of the 5.1? I understand that the UK release has lossless mono but I was also under the impression that, while lossy, the US release also contained the original mono.
