"I just wanted to give you a heads up. The Region 1 Blu-ray DOES look fantastic, but the 5.1 mix is a cheat. While it does expand the listening experience, they have lost some of the original sound effects in the process. Case in point? Please watch the scene where Norman enters his house after peeping on Marion. The sound of the door closing is missing, but is present on the 2.0 mix (and every other release this film has seen.) Fans and purists should be aware of sloppy mistakes like this. Don't you agree? Thanks for your time." I believe he is referring to the US bluray, but I would love to see some confirmation from those who own it. |

For BLACK HAWK DOWN Theatrical Cut, the DE is still Best PQ though for that version of the film. Many folks won't mind owning both for the full gamut of features. The Universum DE disc DOES have hard-coded/burnt-in subtitles too. No idea if it has all extras from Disc 3 of the USA 3-Disc Deluxe Edition, if DVDCompare.net is anything to go by. (It's why I'm keeping it along with the USA BD. The JP Extended BD I can guess is already a bit expensive. Might as well buy myself a multi-disc case.) DISC THREE Historical Archive: - The History Channel Presents: "The True Story Of Black Hawk Down" documentary (92:20) - PBS Presents: "Frontline: Ambush In Mogadishu" documentary (54:59) - Mission Timeline (Interactive Feature) Target Building Insertion: Multi Angle Sequence (7 Angle Options*****) (2 Audio Options******) (5:38) *****Angle Options: -- Cam 1 -- Cam 2 -- Cam 3 -- Cam 4 -- Cam 5 -- Cam 6 -- 6 Camera Composite ******Audio Options: -- Production Sound -- Commentary by Terry Needham Q&A Forums: - BAFTA Awards (10:26) - Motion Picture Editor's Guild (10:30) - American Cinematheque (11:43) Promotion: - Theatrical Trailer And TV Spots: ---- Theatrical Trailer (2:30) ---- TV Spots: -------- "Compassion/ Event Revised" (1:03) -------- "Witness The Courage Final Revised" (1:03) -------- "Emotion Quotes" (1:03) -------- "Unforgettable Alternate" (0:33) -------- "Triumph" (0:33) -------- "Review" (0:33) -------- "Josh" (0:33) -------- "#1 Movie Stars" (0:33) -------- "Academy Awards®" (0:33) -------- "Action Finals Quote" (0:18) - Poster Concepts (68images) - Music Video: ---- Denez Prigent & Lisa Gerrard "Gortoz A Ran - J'Attends" (3:55) Extended Cut: The Japanese release is currently the only release we have specs for, with 2 discs of extensive extras. Note that it does not include the audio commentaries from the theatrical cut. Theatrical Cut: The German release for the extras including the 3 audio commentaries and exclusive interviews, or Scandinavian release for the 7.1 audio. Note the German release do not include many of the extras from the third disc from the Japanese release. Honestly, this shit is a bit confusing even to me. DE Theatrical still Best PQ with lots of extras, USA Theatrical for Best AQ, JP Extended Best PQ/AQ just for that cut. Last edited by Ray_Rogers; 05-24-2017 at 03:38 AM. |

You STILL need to have the DE for the THEATRICAL CUT be Best PQ since it's not the Extended Edition. Especially for those wanting to own multiple releases and wanting the best version for each version of a film. Maybe some people just don't give a shit about wanting to own more than any one release of any particular movie.
You have The Big Blue and Le Grand Bleu listed twice even though it's the same movie. Update the entry. (UK re-release wins for the audio, no damn idea for the video.) http://dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=17468 OVERALL: Draw The Australian and UK (re-release) editions have English soundtracks, two versions of the movie and a documentary. Note that the Australian disc has a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack on the Director's cut, while UK has PCM 2.0. GENERAL NOTES: *Although "The Big Blue" is a French-produced film, the film is predominantly spoken in English. French, German, Scandinavian and UK (Original) editions hereabove feature only French soundtracks in which all English dialogue has been dubbed, and thus should be avoided. *The following versions of the movie are known: – The original French theatrical version running ~132 min, – The original European theatrical version running ~120 min, – The original US theatrical version running ~118 min, – The Director's cut running ~168 min. Another nitpick. Goofnut, you need to have releases and versions of movies in proper order. Theatrical should always be first! Also proper series order is key, instead of being purely alphabetical. (Not going into the Hammer Productions DRACULA film order and IDGAF about the order of random anime.) Black Hawk Down (Theatrical Cut) Black Hawk Down (Extended Cut) Conan the Barbarian (1982) Conan the Destroyer Conan the Barbarian (2011 - 2D) Dawn of the Dead (1978) - US Theatrical cut @ 127 min Dawn of the Dead (1978) - European cut @ 119 min Dawn of the Dead (1978) - Extended cut @ 139 min) Dune (2000) Children of Dune Escape from New York Escape from L.A. EVIL DEAD Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn Army of Darkness (Theatrical Cut) Army of Darkness (International Cut) Army of Darkness (Director's Cut) Expendables 3, The (Theatrical) Expendables 3, The (Extended) HALLOWEEN(Look up the series order.) Highlander III: The Sorcerer Highlander: Endgame Highlander: The Source The Man with No Name Trilogy A Fistful of Dollars For a Few Dollars More The Good, the Bad and the Ugly RAMBO First Blood Rambo: First Blood Part II Rambo III Rambo (2008 - Extended Cut) SABATA Sabata Adiós, Sabata Return of Sabata, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, The (1974) Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The (2003) Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The: The Beginning (2006) Texas Chainsaw 3D Underworld Underworld: Evolution Underworld: Awakening (2D) Universal Soldier (You take care of it.)X-Men: The Last Stand X-Men Origins: Wolverine X-Men: Days of Future Past Many more titles need to be updated since even in the same region or locale there are multiple releases and even an upcoming US one. |

Has anyone compared the 2 or 3 different WB releases (as there is no "better" import on the list) of Internal Affairs (1990)? The stand-alone release is on a BD-25, which the reviewer mentions as a possible contributor to the softness. However, I just noticed that, according to the site, the double release (with The Departed) is on 2 BD-50's - and that the "Ultimate Gangsters Collection" version is also on a BD-50. Just wondering if those releases fare any better.
