Wasn't there a technical problem with the audio on some early pressings of The Sixth Sense? I remember you had to import the UK discs to avoid pops in the rear channels on some receivers.

That's Unbreakable. AFAIK the pops were never fixed on the US disc. I own the UK disc myself.

Update on the DE Hackers: I can confirm, despite the "B" on the back of the cover, that this release is region-free (ABC). The extras match the US release except on the DE disc the trailer only has German audio. I know there has been some debate about the English 5.1 track but to me it sounds wonderful. Again I cannot vouch for the theatrical authenticity but the surround effect was noticeable and sounded fine.

Does anyone have the Carlotta release of Velvet Goldmine to compare with the US Lionsgate? The Carlotta release, from what I've gathered, is from a 2K restoration, whereas the Lionsgate looks like it may be just the DVD master upscaled. I'm also trying to determine whether the Carlotta release has the slightly longer cut of the film.
If anyone does have it, the extended scenes are described here: http://www.dvdexotica.com/2014/12/ve...reign-cut.html And I expect the most easily identifiable differences are: [Show spoiler] FWIW, by the raw stats standard of the catalog post, the Carlotta release is better, according to stats from DVDBeaver and retro-HD. The Carlotta release has nearly double the file size for the movie. Last edited by senseabove; 10-14-2017 at 04:52 PM. |

What Women Want
US - N/A UK - AVC 1.78:1 17997 kbps, DTS-HD MA 5.1 2118 kbps 16-bit, English subs (Region free) DE - AVC 1.85:1 31993 kbps, DTS-HD MA 5.1 3408 kbps 24-bit, no English subs (Region B) Best PQ The listing for “What Women Want” should include the Region A Japan release which I just bought and watched. Not being RF, I couldn’t check out the DE release for comparison, but the JP release might be no more than an upconverted DVD (or maybe I expected too much ![]() ![]() JP: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/What-...lu-ray/144946/ |
