IMHO the Sony disc has much better compression.

- Kimchi
- others?

I was curious if anyone would/could suggest one they were very impressed with and would (or not) recommend?
- looking for 3D versions, great PQ/AQ and probably a Lenti cover.
The tiny pics (even expanded) on the websites are hard to gauge by, heh.

Comparisons for the new 4K restoration of Sansho the Bailiff are up on caps-a-holic. Can't say it's a huge improvement over the Criterion.

I am split on this one after analyzing the caps this morning. In some shots the JP disc looks better while in other the Criterion disc looks better.

No, but given Ritrovata's past (with identical color correction of every single movie - the one that we see here too) I'd guess it's Arrow's.

I prefer the Criterion disc as well, but I am not going to add it to the list until I know which color timing is correct.

So Hostage....Germany has a disc from this year that says remastered. Any info on if it's better than the US Lionsgate disc?

Sadly there is no US disc yet on caps. Koch usually do very good stuff and it has a nice high bitrate, 24bit audio and even english subs

US is Lionsgate, usually banding on those and lower bitrate
