What do we think about the Koch Media release of Casualties of War?

Any reason the JP release is crossed out HD?

I'm curious about this too. I just got the region free Netherlands Sony release not too long ago and while it lacks the extended cut the transfer is aces and has DTS-HD MA 5.1 unlike the Koch Media.

Both the NL and JP discs are OOP. That's why the entry is crossed out.

As far as the transfer the DE has compression/noise issues all over the place. The NL disc looks far more filmic.

I just purchased the German release of Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Your specs are correct however it is region-free.

I think it's just the extended cut.

Hey Goofnut, just wanted to let you know that if the NL release of Casualties of War is the region free Netherlands release (which it looks like to me) it's strictly the theatrical cut unfortunately even though it states the extended cut on some pics of the front cover art. I was really bummed when I got it in the mail after it stating it was stated as the extended on amazon as well. Completely false advertising since it doesn't state extended cut on the actual cover unless it was an error that has since been corrected but still states it in the description on amazon as the extended director's cut

Thanks for the heads up. So, the DE disc is the way to go if you someone wants the extended cut even though the compression is worse.

Guess so. I'm happy enough. I'm used to the DVD, and the Blu is a big improvement. It's also nice having both versions as a film fan. The DE colors seem to be more saturated, with more detail. Artificially sharpened? Over saturated? I don't know, but it's a hell of a lot better than the DVD.
