Does anyone know anything about this JP Terminator2 release?

Terminator 2 [$15.92] - http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/GNXF-1448

I believe it’s Studio Canal, not Premium (studio name on the list?), and alas, unlike the French 2-disc Studio Canal release on the list, CDJapan says this is only 1 disc.

I am not sure. Was Angel Heart recorded in stereo?

So, yeah the U.S. disc would have the best AQ then. I will mark it.

You can remove Best PQ until we know how JP compares to DE disc and you can add 24-bit on US/DE audio.

Prisoners
US - AVC 1.78:1 19865 kbps, DTS-HD MA 5.1 3332 kbps, extras, English subs (Region free)
DE - AVC 1.85:1 22973 kbps, DTS-HD MA 5.1 3256 kbps, more extras, English subs (Region free) Best PQ
JP - AVC 1.85:1 26491 kbps, DTS-HD MA 5.1 2128 kbps 16-bit, no English subs (Region free)

I watched my BF US copy of Face/Off last night and posted about it. It’s not on The List but 2 posters said that the US version has a DNR problem in addition to lame sound (which I missed). So, I propose - for the purpose of comments from posters who have seen them both - the following update:

Face/Off
US (Uncut) - AVC 26990 kbps, DTS 5.1 ES 1509 kbps/DD 5.1 EX 640 kbps, extras, English subs, mild DNR (Region free)
AU/FR/DE/IT (Uncut) - AVC 24005 kbps, LPCM 5.1 16-bit, no extras, English subs (Region free) Best PQ
UK (Cut 7 secs) - AVC 24048 kbps, LPCM 5.1 24-bit, no extras, English subs (Region free) Best AQ
PL (Uncut) - VC-1 23138 kbps, LPCM 5.1 16-bit (Region free)

Perhaps the UK version is also DNR-free and should share the Best PQ, or, if it’s the only DNR victim, perhaps the US should simply be marked Worst PQ. Hopefully others have seen more than one version and can pitch in.

I have the HK/JPN disc. Where does that fall in?

7 seconds cut? The butterfly knife?

Yes, 70MM was discrete. It was recorded that way on the film.

It doesn't mean stereo surrounds though. Most 70MM mixes had mono surrounds and two "baby boom" bass channels (4.2)

As in not all 70mm mixes were mixed for six channels

I do not know where your release falls in, but I would expect an uncut version from Japan, no? What kind of sound does it have - PCM? As far as the cut 7 seconds : Geoff D reports that "what's cut is the butterfly knife being 'untwirled'" -
[Show spoiler]and not the later use thereof
.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=140

EDIT : I just checked the site and it says that the JP version is AVC with LPCM 5.1 audio. So, you'll have to check : does Travolta "twirl" the knife before "gifting" it? If so, it's uncut and should be added to the AU/FR/DE/IT group; if not, it goes with the UK release.

This release contains only the 152-minute "Special Edition" (aka Director's Cut) disc from the original 2-disc "Premium Edition" steelbook that had Dolby TrueHD audio.

Here's an machine-translated link to the official listing for it...

Subtitles have to be displayed all the way through if you want the Korean spoken language. I believe the picture is even better then the Korean version as there are no extras and only going by the screen caps between the French version and the Korean version on caps - a - holic which suggests compression issues on the Korean edition.

Also comes with a slipcover and the audio is astonishing. Some scenes will make you jump out of your skin.

So looking at all this which BD would you say has the best PQ?

Day of the Dead (1985)
US (Anchor Bay) - AVC 1.85:1 27824 kbps, LPCM 5.1 4608 kbps 16-bit, dubbed profanity, extras, English subs (Region free)
US (Shout) - AVC 1.78:1 30000 kbps, DTS-HD MA 2.0 1982 kbps 24-bit, more extras, English subs (Region A locked)
JP - AVC 1.78:1 34985 kbps, Dolby TrueHD 5.1 1684 kbps 16-bit, no English subs (Region A)
UK - AVC 1.78:1 17727 kbps, DTS-HD MA 5.1 1746 kbps 16-bit, no dubbing, more extras, no English subs (Region free)
AT - MPEG-2 1.85:1, DD 2.0 192 kbps, extras, no English subs (Region free)
FR - AVC 1.78:1 17300 kbps, LPCM 2.0 1536 kbps 16-bit, no English subs (Region free)

Depends on if you like the cool or warm color scheme. Anchor Bay has the cool colors but DNR. Shout has a warm color scheme but better detail/grain.
