Thanks guys but I also heard the France BD is pretty darn good and not DNR heavy, so maybe a combo of the France and the new SHOUT? I am going to work on the audio but want to sync the results to possibly fixed video and make it better then ALL releases.

Thanks again

Yes, and now I have it, but instead of just the PCM 2.0 I plan on fixing the DTS-HD MA 5.1 as well, we don't half ass stuff when we do it lol.

Default Some new titles and info

Hi all,

Continue to be a huge fan of this thread. Found a few not on the master list;

Lodz Ghetto - (FR) Only on DVD in the US. I don't have this BR yet, so hard to comment further.

Bagdad Cafe - there is a Japanese region A BR of the director's cut (about 15 minutes longer) to go along with the region B French and German. I haven't seen those, but the Japanese looks way better than the US DVD (which is the shorter theatrical cut) , and the bit rates were consistently in the 35-40 range according to my Oppo.

A Midnight Clear - No US release (even the DVD is way out of print, and full screen/1:33). There are blu-rays from the UK, Germany and France. All use the same master. All region B.

Hope those are helpful and can be added to the list.

But if the PCM is from the same master as that used for the mono tracks on the AB/Shout! releases then it'll have that noticeable sibilance baked in, no? You'd be better off trying to fix the 5.1 AB mix to begin with.

Yes I have. Same master used sadly but judging by the less compression/better grain structure JP probably have higher bitrate and thus looks better even on my 27 inch PC screen with no zoom. But it's no big difference but the inclusion of a hd audio track is even bigger impact off course.

OK it looks just barely, and I mean barley better, but better is better here lol, but it still has muted colors and the sunset scene is still messed up, these screens look far better.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...9&postcount=44

but HDG cannot add this to his list.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...5&postcount=47

The really bad thing here is if, and I mean if the US ever releases it, the BD will probably be the same crap, these 2 BD's are both really bad.

Quoting myself on this since people asked for proof, here it is, the back cover on the diamond luxe edition of gravity clearly states that atmos has a 7.1.4 channel configuration.

Equalizer, The
US - AVC, DTS-HD Master 7.1, extras (Region A Locked)
UK - AVC, DTS-HD Master 7.1, extras (Region free) (censored/cut status)
PL/FR/IT/HK/TH/TW - AVC, DTS-HD Master 7.1, extras (Region free)
JP - AVC, DTS-HD Master 7.1, extras (+ Blu-ray bonus disc) (Region A)
NL/DE/ES - AVC, DTS-HD Master 7.1, extras (+ Blu-ray bonus disc Steelbook Exclusive) (Region free)

I now have found enough proof the UK disc is censored/cut.

Edit: FR, PL & IT added as well.

Well it doesn't matter since the base for Atmos is dynamic. It doesn't care if you have 8 speakers or 32. It will adapt the sound, that is why it's so good.

My guess is the upcoming DTS-X will use similar logic.

What makes the UK PQ better? You didn't list any DNR issues or whatever. I actually own the UK disc and was tempted because the US is AVC, so just wondering. Also, has anyone found an appreciable AQ difference?

Have a look: http://caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleich...less=1#auswahl

This shot in particular shows bad the encode is on the Shout disc: http://caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergleich...ss=1#vergleich
