EDIT : Rats, according to MCC, they're all cut from the same altered master - not too badly, though.
Can you tell what's cut?

Have no idea. First time I hear about that one being altered

Current thought seems to be that "they" didn't want to offend European Muslim audiences () so they slightly neutered the world version and when they released it on BD in the US, they used the same master rather than spend more money to cut a new, uncensored master like the US DVD.

They erased a book (presumably the Koran) and some prayer beads from the head terrorist's hand in one scene and in another changed a reference to "all Islam" to "all our friends". Lightweight but cowardly nonetheless, there's far worse out there - even by Warner itself - but this castration has never been "fixed". And we're supposed to believe what, that these middle eastern terrorists praying on prayer rugs are not religious fanatics?

Wow, another dumb question ... I just watched Watchmen on BD for the first time. In posting about it, I looked over some old posts I'd forgotten about and rediscovered that, according to The List, the UK version has the best PQ. Is it a noticeable difference or just a numbers, maybe-you'll-see-it-maybe-ya-won't kinda thing? I only ask 'cause I just spent almost ten bucks on the US DC and I don't wanna throw away another $16.56 fer somethin' that isn't gonna slap me around and say "This is what you've been missing, fool."

UK one doesnt have the movie max mode mind. I used to own both and to be honest, I dont remember much difference at all. Quite happy having the Ultimate cut - If Im going to watch the Watchmen I want to see the whole thing!

Yeah, the Blu-Ray omits the Koran from the bomber's hand, another reference to the Koran (when Hassan is talking to Halle Berry's character), and the prayer rug shot, but I believe all the dialogue is intact.

HOWEVER, there was a version airing on television that dubbed over ALL the references to Islam and Allah. You can read about the changes in my post from last September: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=159

If I remember correctly it's just a matter of marginally better grain structure.

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure

UK - AVC, DTS-HD MA 5.1 16-bit, new master, English subs (Region B) Best PQ
You can remove this new master claim against to the UK disc as it's false:

The U.S, UK and Australian discs are sourced from the same master. I received the UK version today, and compared the first few minutes of each. The contrast on the UK disc actually appeared to be slightly boosted compared to the others as well.

The lip sync was horrendous on the US release, on my equipment. Dunno if a firmware release for the PS3 ever fixed it, as I dumped the PS3 AND the US Watchmen disc long ago.

Only watched it once so far, but zero lip-sync problems on my Oppo - that I noticed.

It looks like Bill and Ted was removed from the list since it doesn't have better PQ, but it still has additional extras.

Yes, the UK release has all the US extras plus 4 additional featurettes.

fwiw, I was looking over the extras from the 3-DVD collection, and the additional extras from the UK BD are also found in that set. Only "Scribble to Script" doesn't match up to the DVD specs, but I'd bet it's on there in some shape or form, especially since the DVD seems to have exclusive extras of its own. So if you already have the DVDs, you can stick with the US BD.
