Right, it's the same source.
As for the encode, scientificially speaking it's not a valid comparison by bitrate(!), since another codec is used.
It's like mp3 -> HE-AAC for music: same source, same bitrate -> will not produce same quality.. hence no valid comparison by bitrate.

But I catch your drift, apart from techn. nitpicking UK/DE looks pretty much the same in biggest parts, wouldn't disagree on that. The AU release looks clearly different though (color), I don't remember bout the US off hands.

Has anyone got this double feature of The Fugitive/U.S. Marshals from Japan?
Does it have the remastered Fugitive?

The back cover of the double feature says that the English audio for The Fugitive is Dolby Digital 5.1, which would correspond to the original release. Also the list of bonus features is in line with the old US release, unlike the Japanese release of the remaster which got the same extras as the US remaster.

Based on that, I'd say there's a 99.99% chance that they're using old unsold stock of the original Japansese disc for the double feature.

Well spotted, thanks for that. Why they would do that is beyond me.

Regarding Lifeforce.

UK wins by offering both cuts on separate discs and in 1080p with AVC. The UK release is the one to buy, regardless of what the USA one has to offer.

Looking at the various releases of National Treasure I noticed that the UK version has Dolby TrueHD and the other versions tended to have LPCM for the audio.

Anyone know if the video is at all different between the releases?

It's Disney worldwide so it should be the same master.

Not all AVC hardware encoders are created equal. An older AVC video encode from 2008 is nearly obsolete by today's standards unless the bitrates were extremely high.

Does anyone know the specs for for the Japanese version of Dracula 2000? Both the US and Canadian versions are 1080i, but at least the Canadian version is in the right aspect ratio and has lossless surround sound.

So the JP version appears to the the one to own at the moment?

Also, does anyone own the US version of Red Tails? I wondered if it is worth picking up?

Anyone own the JP disc of Pandorum? FR is listed as best PQ here but if this screenshot are correct there are some serious errors in the FR disc. Interested how the JP disc looks since it's Sony although little lower bitrate than the others if these specs is correct https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Pandorum-Blu-ray/122703/

FR vs JP

In a relatively interesting, but potentially disappointing, announcement Manga Entertainment UK have explained that the 3D Blu-ray release of Space Pirate Captain Harlock will include the ‘International’ version of the film in High Definition where as the ‘Japanese Edit’ of the film, along with 40 minutes of bonus materials, will be included on a seperate DVD.
The International cut does not exist in Japanese, as far as I'm aware.

Manga appear to be porting the Australian release across.

The BD will have both 2D and 3D versions of the English dubbed International Cut, with the JP cut relegated to the bonus DVD.
