If it, in fact, *is locked*, different story, and unfortunately theres currently no disc at hand to evidently prove.

In case you order this one, would be interesting to hear about.

@HD Goofnut, sry that wasn't of much help finally, maybe sb. can confirm with disc in player

Hard to say, they called it in reg.free to blue.de, but when they skipped the planned US-release they changed the officiall nfo at their site (only) to B.
To be all sure about this we'll prolly have to wait till it's confirmed in a player

It's only 6 pounds so I will probably just buy it since my PC setup can play region B titles. I need to purchase Escape from Alcatraz and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance from the UK anyway.

All right then, there's still a chance Arrow merely changed the nfo, not the actual disc. But you'll soon find out then

You can always e-mail me the corrections admin@dvdcompare.net which would be nice!

Seriously though, we do our best at making sure we have accurate specs, and have fairly rigid rules with how we accept them (which have been in place for a number of years now). They must come from either online reviews (such as Blu-ray.com) or from an owned disc where further information can be asked for.

Do mistakes happen? Of course, we have even had people try to make things up which is why we try to research submitted specs when possible too. We are only human, and we all have lives away from the site too! However, we do have a corrections form - http://dvdcompare.net/feedback.php for when people want them. We have always said we want to just be an additional resource for people, and tell people to always check reviews. We also link to Beaver, caps-a-holic, movie-censorship etc to help people as much as possible, though one thing I can tell you, is every site makes mistakes, and every large database will never be problem free, so it all about trying to keep mistakes minimal.

Like anything, an element of trust is required. We have over 86000 releases listed, and we like to think, for the most part, any mistakes are minor because of the way we have handled submissions over the last 7-8 years when we implemented a more in-depth process asking for run times of etc where possible. Any mistake is genuine though, and we are happy to receive any and all corrections.

Personally, I've been a part of the site for over ten years and recently bought it to make sure it lives on and continues to go in the right direction, and any and all feedback is most certainly welcome!

Cheers guys!

It should be noted that according to one person supplying region coding information for Remo that the menu button trick is working on the Remo disc. Now, this is something that doesn't work on my particular player, not in the past and not in this case. HD Goofnut may have better success with his BD player.

I doubt that it's doable to verify if the submitted specs come really from an owned disc, that may be the cause for some wrong infos.

But thats hardly to perform any better, agree on that, you guys doing a great job maintaining and providing the best possible nfo for free (!).

Yeah I noticed and reported some of the faulty specs in the Bronson thread 5-6 days ago, might just take some time then. Good to hear feedback from you, I wasn't sure if / by whom this site is actually maintained

Thats great you giving in that much personally on that, my respect and thank you one more time, any free info platform is most appreciated!
Since I have the chance now to talk to the man on top , have you considered taking bitrates into your spec system?

On the other hand, maybe it would make sense to add fps nfo around here, as you have it already. I know there are several beamer etc. having issues either with 23,976 or straight 24 (not speaking of 25, 50)

Thanks again, and my excuses for coming over pretty disrespectful about your site in my previous post.

What about the Australian release of "Splash". The release has 2 user reviews on here that couldn't be more different regarding the PQ.
I can't seem to find any other reviews online.

Who has this title, and what are the technical merrits really like?

Does anyone have any information on the Japanese version of O Brother Where Art Thou? Its listed here with an AVC encode: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/O-Bro...Blu-ray/89522/
The back of the art also show that it is AVC. The Worldwide release was a VC-1 encode and while I don't own it myself reviews suggest it was well received. Because it came out two years later though I was wondering if the Japanese AVC encode would be superior to the worldwide VC-1. From what I've read it seems that AVC usually trumps VC-1.
Great thread BTW

Of course, but the depth of the info provided, and the submittor's track record certainly helps determine, and it is generally easy to determine. We ask questions of submissions to specify further, or ask for screenshots of the menu screens etc at times too. It's finding the balance of trust, which generally, I think we do well for the vast majority of the time!

I'd be more than happy to look at the corrections if you get the chance to e-mail them. I will actually hide the UK release for the moment from the site in anticipation. There are currently 15 team members from around the world (UK, New Zealand, US, Finland, France, Holland, Japan) all of whom donate their spare time going through some often soul destroying tasks (we added 20000 directors over the course of two months etc)!

It has been considered in the past, as has noting if a disc is OOP, adding covers, etc etc, but we have decided to keep it relatively basic whilst keeping links to various other sources who do a great job of including that particular info. It is finding a good balance that is in-depth enough to help people out but isn't so anal it becomes a chore to maintain.

This is something that has been discussed a few times, and we are still looking at it.

Quote:

No worries, and thanks for your input. A couple of months back we did a survey to find out where we need to improve and what people would like to see more / less of. We are still discussing various aspects of that, and have made some improvements already behind the scenes. We are always happy to receive feedback whether good or bad and there is always room for improvements over time.

Cheers.

88 Films Toxic Avenger 2 in the UK is better than the US. The US has half the bit rate, and is 720p. No disc info scans yet, but the 720p is really enough said for most.

Wow never even seen a 720p blu-ray?? Isn't the specs 1080p or is the scan 720p only and blown up?
