Despite some confusion in the listings here, it looks like only the UK, Australia, Holland, and the Nordic territories got the Killer Cut (my UK BD has Australian, Dutch and UK/IRE rating logos),

while most of Europe and Asia has a disc with the 97-minute R-rated version.

Just adding, the DE disc has def. only the 97 rated version, as well.

So I just ordered this one since I've always wanted to see the widescreen edition. The US DVD was always fullscreen

Info is hard to come by and I'll post more when I receive it (in a month with how slow amazon.de is lately). Thought I would mention it for the other crazies like me that dig this flick

oh and btw, it says Region B locked, but I'll test that in my region A player.

Confirmed this is region free even though it shows the region B symbol only on the back. Framing is really well done:

Wait, is something wrong with the US release of Leviathan (2014)? I haven't read anything to that end and it seems to have at least one small leg up on the UK release with the director commentary.

There's an issue with the subs on the UK disc, if I remember correctly. I sold it and bought the US disc, which is perfect. Unfortunately it was so long ago, I can't remember the exact problem...

The scores for the UK PQ/AQ are higher, and comparing the screenshots in the reviews, I think the UK looks better. Granted, the reviews are from different people.

The French release has 5MB more bitrate, I don't know if it looks any better though. Not an option anyway, since no EN subs aboard.

Zvyagintsev's first feature The Return is also very good I thought, worth checking out.
