The original specs were correct but they were listed for the wrong movie. Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai is actually the title of Miike's 2011 color remake of Kobayashi's Harakiri (1962). The specs are intended for the latter's Criterion and Eureka/Masters of Cinema releases.
My viewing and research indicates that while the Criterion boasts superior contrast and detail, it is noticeably cropped (and windowboxed) when compared with the Eureka. The UK edition also has more picture information along both side edges and the bottom of the frame. Overall, it is truer to the film's 2.35:1 ratio. 2.35:1

Goof: I'm sorry, as you misunderstood one of my tweaks. The original A/V specs for Harakiri (1962) were correct but the list details for the extras should read like this:

This listing of what I'm assuming is the same disc, says it's region locked, but I was just going off this site's database. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/X-Men...d-Blu-ray/208/

However there was a bonus disc (I was wrong on that point), so if you're buying a release check to see if it has both first, as most of the boxsets do not.

Disc played in a region A player, was unable to test C. Framing through on my PC I find no interlacing and it looks like this is a 25fps progressive transfer encoded as 1080i. None of this matters because the transfer is a horrible upscale.
