Regarding Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), the German release seems to have the best extras, having all the extras from any release plus a behind-the-scenes featurette and several cast interviews. But it has DTS-HD instead of lossless audio like the others. Also, the comments for it on caps-a-holic complain about compression issues, but I'm having trouble seeing a difference PQ-wise (I know the framing is different). What do you guys think?

http://www.caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergl...ss=1#vergleich

EDIT: Actually, looking at cap #2 again more closely I can see what one of the posters was talking about. Still having trouble seeing it in other caps though.
DTS-HD and lossless aren't two different things from what I understand - DTS-HD can be lossless. I assumed all DTS-HD tracks were lossless. And that DE track is actually 24-bit. The US is 16-bit.

Going by the screencaps, the US PQ is better:
Look at the bottom metal thing
Look at the floor

DTS-HD High Resolution Audio = lossy
DTS-HD Master Audio = lossless

Either codec can be 16-bit or 24-bit.

Chicago (Warner Japan) - AVC (30 Mbps average), Dolby Atmos/TrueHD 7.1, extras similiar to the US Disney release (with the feature-length retrospective documentary missing), Japanese menus, Eng subtitles with a few errors, Region Free.

Gravity (Ultimate Edition Steelbook) (Warner France) - Packs the 3D BD in the first edition along with the 2D Dolby Atmos BD and the special features BD from the new Diamond Luxe edition. Also includes a DVD.

Done. However, with Chicago you can get all of those extras in the U.S. if you buy both the Buena Vista and Lionsgate releases. The JP disc also has the wrong ratio.

Virtuosity removed. Looks like the same disc that was released internationally.

Well no one is buying 2 US discs to have same extras and get worse audio and lower picture bitrate or? Not going to go into 1.85 vs 1.78 here since it doesn't really matter to me that much.

You wrote "all extras" on the JP disc but, yet, the person above says the feature-length doc is missing.

Well, I did as I had the first disc already. I think I spent $25 total for both editions. I just stuck them in a 2 disc case with the Lionsgate slipcover.

Regarding TCM (2003), the DE release on caps-a-holic is the first pressing that was mentioned on dvdcompare. There is a newer pressing with improved compression, which I imagine would make it more in line with the US release. I posed the question in the caps-a-holic chat room and got a super fast answer from the guy who did the comparison himself!

Sorry if these have been posted already.

Nosferatu - A Symphony of Horror

Kino Lorber - MPEG 4 - DTS Master 5.1/LPCM 2.0 16 bit. A locked.
Masters of Cinema - MPEG 4 - DTS Master 5.1/LPCM 2.0 24 bit. B locked.

The Kino release suffers from motion judder due to the 18fps to 24fps conversion. Image is also zoomed in. Includes scenes from other Murnau films. English and German versions on separate discs. Optional English subtitles. Language of Shadows is in English and is subtitled.

Masters of Cinema - Smooth video. Contains same extras as Kino, but adds two commentaries, an interview, and booklet. Missing clips from other Murnau films. Language of Shadows is in German with English subtitles.

Main feature is in German only with optional English subtitles.

Titanic

20th Century Fox
Region Free.

Paramount Pictures
A locked.

Both offer the same technical specs, but the US Paramount disc has an audible pop in the opening credits.
Fox release also includes a 3D trailer showcase, and adds a ShoWest trailer.

Sleepy Hollow

Japanese - MPEG 4. A locked. 1080i Mbaff
Features a lossless 16 bit TrueHD track and the aspect ratio of 1.85. It also has a warmer color palette.

Extras/menus are the same as the US release, except the trailers are missing. The Paramount logo is MIA in the beginning. Making of and interviews are in English, but with forced Japanese subtitles.

US - MPEG 2. Region free. No lossless audio. Offers 640kbps DD and a 1509kbps DTS track.

Input on Cube appreciated. Seems like a difficult choice between the Canadian, Korean and Japanese releases.
