Regarding TCM (2003), the DE release on caps-a-holic is the first pressing that was mentioned on dvdcompare. There is a newer pressing with improved compression, which I imagine would make it more in line with the US release. I posed the question in the caps-a-holic chat room and got a super fast answer from the guy who did the comparison himself!

Nosferatu - A Symphony of Horror Kino Lorber - MPEG 4 - DTS Master 5.1/LPCM 2.0 16 bit. A locked. Masters of Cinema - MPEG 4 - DTS Master 5.1/LPCM 2.0 24 bit. B locked. The Kino release suffers from motion judder due to the 18fps to 24fps conversion. Image is also zoomed in. Includes scenes from other Murnau films. English and German versions on separate discs. Optional English subtitles. Language of Shadows is in English and is subtitled. Masters of Cinema - Smooth video. Contains same extras as Kino, but adds two commentaries, an interview, and booklet. Missing clips from other Murnau films. Language of Shadows is in German with English subtitles. Main feature is in German only with optional English subtitles. Titanic 20th Century Fox Region Free. Paramount Pictures A locked. Both offer the same technical specs, but the US Paramount disc has an audible pop in the opening credits. Fox release also includes a 3D trailer showcase, and adds a ShoWest trailer. Sleepy Hollow Japanese - MPEG 4. A locked. 1080i Mbaff Features a lossless 16 bit TrueHD track and the aspect ratio of 1.85. It also has a warmer color palette. Extras/menus are the same as the US release, except the trailers are missing. The Paramount logo is MIA in the beginning. Making of and interviews are in English, but with forced Japanese subtitles. US - MPEG 2. Region free. No lossless audio. Offers 640kbps DD and a 1509kbps DTS track. |
