The ghosting on the Samsung depends on how warm the room is. The warmer the room, the less ghosting. (I am being serious)

For those living under some sport-less rock. This is World news and there is nothing like a Hollywood ending to serve as a watershed event in U.S. soccer

I’m lucky I communicate with you guys via my finger tips as today, I’m hoarse. The results of England’s and the USA’s matches deserve a new(at least for this thread) Waka Waka tribute because every soccer fan in those countries should be dancing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRpeEdMmmQ0

In fact, today I’m so happy that if Denon CI can tell me the name of the player at about the 2:36 mark (yellow and green jersey) in the above video clip (being hoisted up by a fellow player) and the US beats the winner of the upcoming Uruguay vs. South Korea match (hey, nothing in life is easy), then I’ll send him the player’s autograph which was signed on the official souvenir program in front of me by said player during halftime while he was playing for his club team in a friendly match in the US back in the day.

Hints are allowed from the peanut gallery.

Anyway, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, for those soccer newbies out there, USA vs Ghana is on the tube on Sat. How do you spell soccer revenge?... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pF0f_...eature=related

And on Sunday…didn’t you just know that this epic draw was destined to be? -

I still think Ghana will overpower the US for a win and the Germans will edge out the drama queen English 1-nil. US is solid but Ghana is one of the most physical teams in this tournament, which will make it hard to slow down their scorers or get close enough for us to get off a lot of shots. 3-1 Ghana, I think. Hoping Korea gets past Uruguay though.

I carry the camera in a Tamrac backpack and the tripod goes over my shoulder. I have another backpack for the 150-600mm lens. My friend Buck carried the 150-600 on the two locations above.

The Tillamook Rock viewing point was a 1.5 mile hike up a steep hill. This location is really close to the rock formations in the Goonies.
Sweet pics Stacey Spears.

Often times I wish I had had the foresight to capture myself on film participating in past adventures but alas, I was either too involved in the moment or just didn’t have the opportunity. On location stuff like that will be cherished for years.

If you ever purchase a second Red and combine them onto a 3D rig, you’ve got to sign up for one of these courses…

Penton,

Wouldn't that be Pele? He wore #10, which just so happened to be my number that I wore in all the sports I played as a yute (My Cousin Vinnie reference). Furthermore, the yellow jersey is a give away since that is Brazil's color

Correcto-mundo . The goal was scored on a header by The King as shown here…
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/world-c...cc=5901&ver=us
(if the link takes you to Carlos Alberto, then just click on Pele in the upper left part of the tool bar on top)

Now, you have even more of an incentive to cheer on the USA to advance forward in the World Cup in the days to come because this is a rare autographed program, as I said, obtained during halftime of a game while he was still all sweaty wearing his Santos kit. Heck, if you have the autographed page in the program tested, you may even get a sample of his DNA if you have any lab buddies who do that sort of thing.

I think this may be my most favorite of all his goals….a perfect bicycle kick on the full volley
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTPKX...eature=related

I can’t begin to explain to people unfamiliar with the sport, how much technical skill it takes to hit a corner kick on the full volley with perfect placement into the net, much less, accomplishing it upside down and over your head .

P.S. If the ESPN link video link above doesn't work, maybe Slec or someone else can help me out. Otherwise, maybe try adding http:// in front of--- soccernet.espn.go.com/world-cup/i-scored-a-goal?id=5093590&cc=5901&ver=us in a new window, as I've got to run now.

Penton,

I couldn't possibly accept something so personally valuable to you. I'm just happy I got the question correct. BTW, when I was in the 2nd grade, I did a project on Pele, so the question wasn't that challenging to result in such a great prize!

You have a good memory of the film and the bicycle kick but that’s probably a wish list kind of expectation.

Heck, if we’re into wishing for the stars, so to speak, it may seem very strange to some but for me, if Argentina makes it into the Final and knowing how Messi dances with the ball through defenses like Pele did during his playing days…I know that I will personally be yearning for this film on Blu-ray…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztzHq...eature=related

If only to see and hear this beautiful scene in all its glory on the Blu-ray format –
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OPZW...eature=related

But alas, if wishes were fishes, then we would all cast nets as both are ‘catalog’ titles.

He signed two for me.

As a wee young whipper-snapper, even then, in the presence of the greatest soccer player of all time, I had a back-up plan , in case I were to lose one over the years.

The offer still stands in case you’re interested. Cheer for the USA with passion!

How about:

Please do keep the look, sound and texture of the movie as close as possible to the way it was released and spend money on that, also port over all extras from the DVD version and maybe add a few. BD-Live should be just another menu item - it is not important to us and it definitely must not be forced on us!

I thought one of the big selling points of BD was "hey, now you can see all your old favorite films in a whole new way...in High Definition!"

Sadly, outside of WB, everyone else has barely made a dent in releasing older films that I'd consider my favorite. That is my #1 complaint about BD, which is now in year 4 of existence and has 17 million BD players in the US. The near complete lack of acknowledgement on catalog titles. At what point do they say "okay, now we have enough players in homes."

And if it's due to slow sales, then they, the studios, need to step up their game and get more people to upgrade. I'm buying as much as I can.

Jaws' 35th anniversary is this year and there's no hint in sight of a tie-in BD release. An easy opportunity for the marketing boys to take advantage of.

Criterion is an independent company and they're doing consistent quality work on their older films. They can't have too much of a budget to spend on these films. But they're making Universal look bad in terms of effort/quality.

There ya go!
Not so fast though.

Read the original offer. Our boys still have to win the next two games for you to get your gift. Get out your vuvuzela and blow , as I want to hear that you’ve driven Peter THX totally bonkers from the sound coming out of your house miles away in a different county.

And what happens in Vegas ….stays in Vegas.
