During the press tour for the Nespresso Grand Prize winner at Cannes, the animated film “I Lost My Body,” writer Guillaume Laurant spoke about two upcoming projects he has with frequent collaborator Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Speaking with SCA – Scénaristes de Cinema Associés (the interview is in French and without subtitles), Laurant mentioned being in-talks to make a TV series, and also a Netflix film.

According to ScriptOclap, a subscription-based database for in-development projects in France, the Netflix film may be titled “Big Bug,” and it is described as “a story about artificial intelligence, a comedy with robots.” Honestly, that sounds pretty fantastic, and it is not the first time we’ve heard about this project. This does track with what we know. Talking with Indiewire earlier this year, Jeunet mentioned having a story he wanted to make that involved robots. “I have a story I want to make as a movie about artificial intelligence, but it’s difficult to find the money because it’s a comedy with robots,” he said. “So maybe it’ll be for Netflix, who knows. As a last resort, I will try Netflix.” According to ScriptOclap, the film will be produced by French production company Eskwad, and distributed by Netflix, filming between April and May next year.
