Sounds like you are very happy with your decision with the LED vs OLED

I actually have a 940E, but posted here because they have some similar traits. Love it so far, especially the 75" part.

Dang, now I'll need that Dolby Vision player...although I don't wanna spend a silly amount on the OPPO (remember kids, it retails for the equivalent of $850 over here in da yookay and that doesn't even include the MR mod) and I don't want that piece of shit LG. Even when the TV update arrives I'll hang on and see if by some miracle the X800 is also updated. If it's not I'll have to bite the OPPO bullet.

who said anything about dropping HDR10? I'll still have another player as backup, the TV will still display HDR10 just fine and keep in mind the HDR selection mode on the Sony, hopefully it'll be possible to just turn off the Dolby Vision and have the HDR10 base layer come through.
But I simply must see what all dis Dolby fuss is about. |

I meant I am going to keep an HDR10 only player in the stable in case some do not allow DV to be turned off. With this even brighter display, Im not anxious to rush into anything else.

Heh, it says "This feature will be made available via a future firmware update" if you click on the little footnote, so it's not there yet. But that they're now advertising it must mean that they've at least worked out whatever marketing rights were required.

Also, since Sony uses GAAP, due to potential revenue recognition issues, it is possible that they are going to push out the update this fiscal quarter which ends at the end of September so they can report the earnings from sales of the set within that quarter. The ambiguity of them stating it will come in a future update is there but that is my general take. Lastly, I heard rumblings of some testing of the firmware having gone on over the past month or so. |

10K confirmed over at AVS that Cinema Pro Contrast 86 and Cinema Home 95 are pretty close to the same in stock mode.
I am really digging Motion Flow "Standard" after coming from an OLED and their motion issues. |

Final overall 940E test was last night, dark room letterbox viewing with an HDR movie (Skull Island).
Not once, unless I intentionally stared, could I ever see the black letterbox affected in a dark scene with some light at the bottom or the top. If you get off angle you can see it, but in a proper seat it just does not draw attention. And even when a small area of the letterbox may have some carryover from the content, the rest of the box is dark. Sony really has their stuff down with local dimming programming and video processing. Also did not see any evidence of zones doing funky things in dark scenes with light areas and movement or pans. I remember a 2009 Toshiba 55" I had, with something like 96 zones. You could literally see them turn on and off with movement LOL. |
