That could be the cause of your problem, it matters because only the ARC input on the TV works as an output to send sound to the receiver, there must be some weird interaction going on because of bad connections and other things you haven't mentioned could be playing a part too but may be what I am writing below may cover all you need to do.
If you are using a receiver the player should not really be connected to the tv at all. We were talking about the x800 right? You should connect the player to a regular HDMI input on the denon. You'll be using only one output of the player, the second one remains disconnected. then the ARC input of the TV gets connected to the HDMI output of the DENON marked as ARC. Then you need to make sure you have activated on the menus of the TV and the DENON the ARC feature. That might solve your problem. |

![]() I find that the more you fiddle the more it throws it out of whack. I used to adjust both Gain and Bias and had a lot of 10-pt adjustments to make after that, but then I read a review of the A1E OLED which said that the Bias controls put the darker tones so out of whack that they avoided using it. Lo and behold, when I applied that reasoning to the Zed it made dialling in the colour so simple, solely adjusting the red and blue Gain and the uppermost '10' of the 10-pt white balance. That's it. |

Anyone using bias/ambient lighting on their Zs, 40s and or 30s?
If I remember correctly, Stinging Velvet and a few other forumites are big proponents of ambient lighting. Ordered a cheap set to try out (these $9 ones on Amazon), hooked it up to the 930e and while it won't magically turn the TV into some infinite black panel, and I can still see blooming, have to say the bias lights are doing a very nice job of mitigating and reducing the bloom. Snapped a quick pic of the Batman v Supes autumn leaf WB logo, still some bloom there (edit: not to mention a bad bit of glare on the right side of the image courtesy of my closet's glass mirror) but very happy with the results nonetheless - ![]() For the obvious record, crappy camera exposure is making the bias lighting look brighter than it is, it looks less bright than that in person. Yes sir, kept the oled in the living room and got the 930e (55'') primarily as a pc workstation/gaming monitor but finding myself watching more movies on it more than anything. When I do some actual work on it, the larger screen and resolution allows me to have more windows opened at once which is useful for the stuff I have to edit.

Holy shit, that's some monitor! It's an increasing trend for people to eschew a traditional desktop size monitor and just buy a big-ass TV, I don't have the room where my PC is but I'd do it if I could.
As for bias lighting: I've tried it, not a fan. |

Not gonna throw white balance settings out there, I mean they don't carry over (my friend has a 940E chad did as well, not the same). I can give input on other settings if someone needs input. I will say he did SDR in Cinema Pro and HDR in Custom. We viewed a lot of content (HDR reference images) and Custom made the most sense when looking at the high nit highlights in images (sun, etc...).

![]() Custom shows more bars (almost to 5k) on test patterns than pro and home, and like I said using your eyes and HDR images on a signal generator, Home clips out more detail in clouds and such. Pro and Custom were very similar there. |

Again, complete opposite here: with Pro and Home set to equal settings then Pro clips more than Home does, the latter has a slightly more relaxed tone map which lowers brightness to fit in more range, whilst Pro keeps the brightness up a bit more and clips earlier in the range as a result. Lemme check my test patterns now though, perhaps something happened in the later firmware updates...

Yep, still the same. With contrast at 88 and black level at 50, Custom clips at 1000 nits, Pro gets out to about 1500 (what I'm using at the moment) and Home gets within touching distance of 4000. Tested on both Ryan Masciola's clipping patterns and the 0-10,000 ramp on Sony UHDs.
