Considering the fact that they're selling the 75" ZD9 at launch price where I live right now ($9670), I didn't take price into account for my argument (the lowest it went was $4800). Other brands like Samsung and Philips also don't seem to have any problem with selling displays at around the $7000 mark. The 75" ZF9 is selling for $6000 here as well. Pricing doesn't really reflect how good or bad any given display is necessarily, just how many units you're likely to sell. The improvements Sony made to the Android OS, or the X1U processor for example isn't really reflected in the pricing I don't think, but it's a tangible improvement.

Either that or they've become so enamored with OLED that they just can't be bothered to make beasts like the ZD9 anymore. Hopefully 2019 has some nice surprises in store that aren't OLED related.
Yeah, I hope so too.

Lately I've been following that Samsung Q900R. Not because I'm planning to buy one, but because I'm interested in what the competition is doing. I'm hoping Sony will have something special up their sleeve for next year. Either one last premium LCD Z9D style, or perhaps MiniLED...

It'll be a regular living room instead of a fancy HT, but hey, free admission for Blu-ray.com members! Bring your own popcorn though, drinks are on me, smoking in the designated area.

Geoff, bring your calibration tools.

I really like this 2017 review on the Z9D.

My Z9D was delivered this last Saturday.

If you looking for a great LCD/Z9D you might read this review.

https://hometheaterreview.com/sony-x...viewed/?page=1

Interesting its picture is really really good/Accurate out the box before calibration. Don't forget to click page 2 of the review.

Anyone read the review? And know other important Impressions.

Quote:
Doug Blackburn's review of the Z9D published in Wide Screen Review: "Custom mode limits peak white to 1,000 nits, and it does not do tone mapping. That makes Custom mode unsuitable for use in HDR mode unless you need to emulate Sony’s HDR mastering monitor."
This seems to imply that there is additional "under the covers" settings affecting at least this picture mode on the Z9D,

I’ve been using standard and custom modes for sdr content only. Cinema pro and Cinema Home For UHD w/hdr and dv content. Also, it’s interesting to see Netflix’s DV supported stuff. I’m currently watching MINDHUNTER. Only at night after my kids go to bed so it’s always in a pitch dark setting. I’m really impressed at how it looks. I’m using the tv’s internal apps. Not my UHD player apps. You do have to subscribe to their 4K offerings though. I believe it’s $4.00 more a month than the other plan I was subscribed to.

Got back my $1000 today.

My Citi Visa has price protection for $250 per item. That dropped price. Just enter Z9D to their price check database.
Out popped Best Buy 65 Z9D for $1999.

Damn. That is a good price.

https://www.citipricerewind.com/

F is $3500.
D is $1999.

And save another bunch on state tax.

Tommy. I would have posted this special on the F thread. But you know how some are over there.

Back in Aug 2016 Los Angeles 65 Z9D Premire

$7000.

I think at $1999 these may be the final batches before they all are gone. Maybe except for the few remaining on EBAY or around asking many $Thousands.

It’s amazing how the 75 incher held it’s value and it’s going to sell out without any other price drop. too bad I bough a 65 850E like 5 months ago for the bedroom, I would definetely go for that $1999 price for de 65 Z9D.

75-inch panels still aren't being produced in mass quantities so they're still very expensive to produce. 65-inch is "mainstream" these days.

They seems use FedEx.
If your area has bad FedEx leaving boxes at door without your signature then careful thought is prudent.

At my area FedEx leaves FedEx Depot pickup slip if no one at home to sign for it.

UPS or USPS just leaves and run. With a loud Tap on door. Careful. USPS been delivering some UPS stuff. There seems a contract of sorts between them. Whether same with FedEx Im not sure.

Got my confirmation voicemail and e-mail that my $1000.00 price match refund went through today from BBY. I remember purchasing my 1st 1080p LG 55” 11 years ago and also spending $1999.99 for it. To get this great of a tv 11 years later (at the same price) really makes me happy w/my purchase and also a reason I try to give my business to BBY.

Thanks for the heads up, I let my co-worker know about the deal and will be helping them set theirs up tomorrow morning. They ordered it from Best Buy.

They won't use FedEx or UPS for an item that large.

Hi guys,
I have a damaged x930e. Loved this set, but it has damaged anti-reflective marks all over it and Best Buy and Sony confirmed that it is a lemon(damaged since manufacture date). Best Buy is offering me the z9d 65 as an exchange and I'm expecting the tv on Friday. I just have a few questions, only related to the 65inch, not the 75inch. I mentioned similar things on AVS Forum. 1) How bad is the motion? Here's the deal, I'm not a gamer. The last video game for me was back in the early to mid-2000s. I watch a ton of movies, some sports, and pixar flicks. I'm am still curious if this thing can handle cartoons or old school video games. 2) For those who came from an x930e, how does the black bar performance compare? I love the x930e, but there is haloing in HDR content where a bright object is against a dark background(Nolan's Batman series, John Wick, The Matrix). It can be somewhat annoying and sometimes can be seen with even a small light on in a mostly dark room. 3) What are the other strengths vs. the x930e? Any thoughts would very helpful at this point from 65inch owners. I just don't want buyer's remorse, and once the x930e is gone, I can never purchase one again. I can only purchase a tv from BB. Thanks again.

I would be interested in an 85Z9G if that ever came to be.
