This link is saying what exactly? They list some devices that maybe will have Dolby Vision via Vudu at some point? The CCU is in the same list as the Nvidia Shield and Xbox One S/X with certainly do not have Dolby Vision support with Vudu.

Neato! Just hopped on my VUDU app and after a couple tries I was able to play Ant Man and the Wasp. The 4K and Dolby Atmos signage appeared in the upper right hand corner. Will try some other stuff when I have more time this wknd.

Yes, ClassicRocker and PeterTHX both pointed out that it has DV support.

The beta for Vudu on Sony TVs has been out even longer.

So confirmation DV doesn't work on your CCU and Sony TV or are you going to make another random post?

Yesterday evening and night, I compared LG G6 OLED internal VUDU App, DV Badge on screen corner, while streaming VUDU DV Thor Ragnorok to...

same VUDU DV Movie Casted from S8 smartphone to CC Ultra attached to Onkyo Tx-RZ830 sent to Z9D HDMI Port #2.

Both TV screen movie looked very similar. Maybe a slight edge to the Z9D. Both TVs Spectacular Specular Highlights, Dark shadows, Rich Contrast Shadings and the various elements of HDR presented.

CC Utra appears Beta. Only Sony knows why the DV screen indications flags are not presented. But in FW state its not Production or Final Official.

I watched some of the DV VUDU The Meg last night.
The LG G6 OLED DV Presentation was Magnificient.

The CC Ultra VUDU UHD Atmos Presentation The Meg(without official DV flagging) was Spectacular.
One would have a difficult time deciding which TV gave the better HDR presentation.

My Onkyo said Premium content sent to the Z9D. It also said Atmos 5.1.4 processed.

Refer to Sony regarding what is actually presented from the CCU to Z9D. Thor Ragnorok(sp?), The Meg on Z9D to some people watching as I did last night may Think the Z9D presentation was a G6 OLED killer.

My G6 won Robert Zohns TV Shootout.
Vincient Teoh said the G6 earned its extra cost over other OLEDs. With appx 732 nits peak brightness(let me get his exact nits) on 10% window.

Quote:
Higher peak brightness in HDR mode was where we felt the OLED65G6V justified its price premium over the step-down 65E6V – our review unit reached 732 cd/m2*(measured using UHDA-ratified window sizes) with both [OLED Light] and [Contrast] left at their default maximum value of “100” in the [HDR Standard] preset. We’ve tested/ calibrated 3 other LG 65G6 OLEDs, and all had no trouble exceeding 700 nits when it came to HDR peak luminance. On the other hand, most 65″ E6 we’ve calibrated usually settled between 630 to 680 nits, with only one single unit managing to close in on 700 nits. We believe this is more than mere coincidence.
Im still editing this post of my visual experience

You seem super confused. The reason there are no "indications flags" is because it isn't Dolby Vision, it is that simple. Also I don't think you know what "beta" means and no clue why you would state it "appears beta".

Unbelievable.

For the umpteenth time, posts regarding complaints about how this thread has been ruined have once again been deleted. I really don't understand what is going on here?! This means it is just fine to post gibberish and completely random stuff (which most of the time makes no sense at all) yet when people complain about that, it gets removed and even worse, nothing is actually being done about the complaints???

This is completely beyond me. A topsy-turvy world is the English expression I believe which would be suitable in this case.

Again for those interested, I have started a seperate Z9D thread in the Displays/LCDs TVs section.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...7#post15701777

One that I expect to be a "normal" thread without any nonsensical interference. Hope to see you there!

I think I've hit upon an actual fix for the Dolby Vision 'grey full field' problem. I've played around with a bunch of settings including trying other ones that other users have recommended and it made no difference, or if it did (like with the Advanced Contrast Enhancer) then it just introduced another set of problems.

But upon fiddling with the black level I noticed that it was dimming down the blacks correctly when lowering black by a silly amount. Obviously going too many notches below the default 50 isn't ideal as it will crush active picture information but I eventually got up to 49 (so only one notch below default) and the bars stay black, as do full-field black screens on credits, scene transitions etc. Am I potentially losing a tiny fraction of shadow detail as a result? Maybe, maybe not, I can't test it with DV brightness patterns yet and it could well be that 50 was actually too high for DV all along.

Long story short: dropping black from 50 to 49 appears to have completely solved the grey bar DV problem.

Nice. Which DV movies had the grey bars? Was it via HDMI or built-in apps?

Connected Roku Ultra to onkyo tx-rz 830 to my Z9D.
Not sure why VUDU, Netflix movies looks so yellowish tinted.

Must one change Z9D settings??????

With Chromecast Ultra connected similarly everything looks right onto my Z9D. Actually very, very Impressive.

I don't use apps. OPPO 203 player connected directly to TV via HDMI.

Which DV had the grey bars/screens? Pretty much anything that dimmed down to black or had a predominantly dark screen. I noticed it right from the start but as I watched more and DV content it got to be more than a minor irritation.

I rewatched some of the trickiest parts of Annihilation in DV last night and wowza, it's bonkers how much of a difference that one tiny adjustment has made.

Un-linked my Chrome Cast Ultra from my TX-RZ830 AVR to Z9D.

Deleted Google Home App. Reconnected a CC Ultra. Loaded Google Home. Waited for updates to occur.

HDR Flag now appears at the Pic Mode screen.

Prior. The HDR Flag never came up in the Pic Mode screen but CC Ultra's PQ was exceptional. Specular hightlights, dark contrast shadings and all.

Vudu UHD Movies Atmos 5.1.4 goes to the speakers fine.

Not sure if there is a way within the Google Home App to force a CC Ultra Firmware update or reload. I did'nt see a Google Home force HDR on/off switch.

I don't have this problem on the Sony x700. I have played several DV 4k blu-rays(The Matrix, A Quiet Place, 2001, ect) and I don't see this problem. I think this may be an issue with a firmware with the OPPO 203 and Sony sets. The x700 will be a great price for Black Friday in the U.S. For those having these problems, I suggest you get an x700. Great player.

As noted above, changing black level down one tiny notch from 50 to 49 has literally cured the problem. And I'd rather have a player that's capable of selecting DV automatically, instead of having to keep turning it on and off.

I haven't been having the problem either, with my Oppo 203, hence why I was asking Geoff for a specific movie. I haven't been watching much lately so I thought it might be specific movies.

I tried Annihilation and Hereditary...looked good with default 50.

Try them in a completely dark room, no ambient light whatsoever. I can't speak for Hereditary, not having seen it, but in Annihilation when the location titles pop up against a completely black screen e.g. 'Area X' or 'The Shimmer' then with DV black level at 50 the screen doesn't dim down to complete black, the level is clearly raised on my TV and I can see the outline of the whole screen in the dark. With the HDR10 layer, black level set to 50 (set using Masciola's test patterns), those same shots are dimmed down completely. With DV black to 49 then they also dim down completely.

Inventory is drying up as it is EOL so supply vs. demand is kicing in but it is still $2K at Best Buy. One of my buddies ordered one for that price today and two others over the past couple weeks.

Z9D wakeup call.

Google 65 inch Z9D. Click shopping. Click compare prices.
Only few online places to order Z9D.

Most between $3K to $7K. 4K average seems apparent.

Best Buy seem one of only places selling under 2K. Post if you find others. But good luck.

Even BH Photo in NY don't have entry now in compare shop list. Versus B4 with few Z9D at $2k.

If interested in a Play. Soon maybe best. That way if your Z9D has issues there is still swap capability in the return window. Least swap for a new. Not refirb. Not open box.
Best Buy in reference to.

Gosh. This just seems sad.

Worst is ending up holding an Empty Bag.

Then having to later buy a much much MUCH lessor TV for 2K.

I not long ago got my Z9D for 3K. Was very happy with that price. Less than 30 days later Best Buy Policy priced match itself. Thats if you bring it to their attention. BB gave me a $K back. One has to recognise a Good Thing.

Z9D Screen won't Burn in either. Good is Good.

And $2K is Awesome.
