I didn't realize they're still available for purchase. Once the price dropped I figured they'd sell out quickly. There must only be a few left in the wild.

Best Buy.com did nearly sold out like last week for stores pick up or delivery to house.

Now as of yesterday or day before...

Best Buy.com allows Z9D store pick or deliver from a Gazillion BB stores. $1999.
I confirmed this on their BB website

Seeing this Z9D Gazillion availability Makes me believe CES 2019 in January will present a new Z9F #2____ So that Sony then can Retire the Z9D's.

Yeah, that's not going to happen.

I was going to say the same thing, almost definitely won't happen at all.

They'll show a successor to the 900F and maybe they'll bring back the 930/940 tier models that they'll announce there but the Z has always been 3rd quarter releases and reveals.

Always Surprises.

Who would have thought Sony gives peoples who waited 2 or 3 years for a ** Z** Upgrade and gives them minimum Zones, subpar Premimum Contrast, Blooming, Raising Blacks...

They just launched the Z9F. I highly doubt we'll hear anything about a new one. It seems the Z is on a 2 year upgrade cycle at best and I wouldn't be surprised if the next one is not an LED TV as we know them now.

Wonder what are the Built Dates on their boxes.

From newly added worldwide Best Buy customer reviews for the MS Z9F...

it appears they are not selling well.

So did Sony pulled the Rabbit Out the Hat for this years Xmas? To sell Z9D's like Hot Cakes.
At Amazing Best Buy prices. Under 2K.

I picked up a 65" at that price, very excited to get it delivered and setup in 2 weeks (delayed delivery until then because of a construction project).

I am pretty familiar with all of the settings as I have a 75" 940E.

What are most people using for motion settings for SDR cable viewing?

8 K's will be well represented at CES 2019 IMO with no doubt. Watch for emergence of HDMI 2.1 all over IMO with no doubt.

All this For the Lead In Awaking for 2020 Tokoyo Olymbics(or Japan) Broadcast.

If Z9F with no HDMI 2.1 as the main 2019 Sony Flagship____ would make me Shimmer

2.1 is on the way at some point. If Sony does implement it in 2019 I'd guess it would be for their high end projectors and maybe their newest flagship OLED. I wouldn't bet too much on it.

From 4K.com few days ago

Quote:
In other words, LG is striving to stay ahead of Samsung’s QLED TV technology, which is giving LG’s otherwise fantastic OLED TVs a serious run for their money in terms of performance and picture quality.

Another thing that the a9 processor will offer is something called High Frame Rates (HFR) of up to 120fps for 4K video. This is something that already essentially exists in the current a9 processor but in the 2019 versions it’s going to be tweaked for better motion handling of ultra HD video during playback of movies, TV shows, console games and probably even for PC gaming connectivity. Additionally and more importantly, because LG will reportedly be adding in a HDMI 2.1 spec for their premium 2019 TVs at least, we can expect HFR120 to mean 4K video playback that actually reaches 120FPS without limitation to the 60FPS that has always been the case for 4K TVs up to now because HDMI 2.0 (present in all 2018 or older 4K TVs) can’t manage higher than that.
Will Sony just SQUAT

AAAAAAAAH BestBuy has the 75" model available for delivery at my location now for $4500!

Seeing as other TV shops were out of stock but "expected more soon," they must still be producing them at a trickle.

Should I do it should I do it should I do it?

There is only one correct answer, and it's "obviously yes".

You should absolutely do it!

I've bought 3 TVs since I got my 75" Z in August 2016 and it is still my favorite.

I just got done with a calibration session where I had my A1E calibrated and then I asked him to sanity check my Z9D since the last time it was calibrated.

Unfortunately there was some drift, which is really strange and mainly the bottom 50% of grayscale got screwy...

Anyway, here are my settings for anyone interested: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=2034017954

First tab is from the first calibration on Nougat, second tab is the Oreo settings, and the 3rd tab I made was to compare and I have highlighted the changes.

The update isn't available yet where I live. Is that common for a firmware update to effect the calibration like that? I was thinking of letting my sets be re-calibrated anyway, so I might just do that after I have done the update.

It is definitely atypical.

Had the set not just drifted in the meantime? Or are you saying you did a calibration on the previous OS just before installing the new OS?

Update isn't available in the UK either, I've recently run off a new cal so will check it again once the new update is installed.

I suppose it is possible that it drifted but seems a bit drastic from 9 months ago. Panel probably had 1500 hours on it last time he did it and now about 500 more.

Understanding what does it mean.

Quote:
Between the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017 the specifications of the upcoming HDMI 2.1 were released, a standard that brings important news but not immediately exploitable. The first concerns the available bandwidth, which goes from 18 to 48 Gbps. A huge increase but necessary to handle signals that can reach even the resolution 10K up to 120 Hz. In the middle there are many new possibilities, such as 4K or 8K at 120 Hz. As you can well understand, the HDMI 2.1 will accompany us for a long time, their life cycle could last even a decade considering the specifications they have. Not only high resolution and refresh rate, because the new standard will bring with it also the support to 16-bit color depth, useless for consumer users, since at most it reaches 10 bit in televisions on the market, but potentially usable from the professional one. Even the HDR can count on better management of metadata, dynamic instead of static, which has however already been introduced by standards such as HDR + and Dolby Vision on current HDMI. Not even the VRR Game Mode will be exclusive, as it is present on some Samsung TVs, compatible with the Freesync. The same goes for the support of the Dolby Atmos standard, already usable today.
