Do not own a ZD9 but a oled but this is very interesting since that been a problem om all sony. Maybe all models will get some love soon?

Maybe this refers to the DV (Dolby Vision) update?

My Z9D's go massively dark in DV mode. It's so bad, I consider DV on Z9D using OPPO assist to be a laugh riot joke. PQ supper duper bad.

But then I've been told I'm not aware that my remote has PQ settings so what do I know.
I saw some reports where after the Oreo update the screen was dim and backlight control wasn't working, so people had to factory reset to fix it.

I didn't do the last update after reading reviews of issues from owners. Will be interesting to see what people have to say after loading this update.

I wonder. So are we supposed to download the new firmware before doing the software update (hence there not being any auto update of the software)? Or are we supposed to do it after?

They're both firmware updates. You just need to download the latest one, when it ever appears that is.

Bloody hell, we're finally getting the "Oreo" update at the end of the month! Steady on Sony, you'll give yourself a nosebleed

At least that's something. No word over here as of yet. Maybe the same timeframe? Even so...who knows what "wave" we're all in? Still could be March if I don't do the upgrade manually.

Geoff D, the firmware that you have been waiting for has posted to the Sony UK site.

Looks like there is a new firmware release that occurred on 1/22/19. It hasn't reached my TV automatically yet. Pkg 6.5830....

Latest update is now available in Europe.

I'll wait for more user experiences/feedback as I am in no rush to update. I wonder if Oreo will hold any real advantages for me personally since both my sets are disconnected from the internet at all times anyway. Getting rid of "Football mode" is nice though.

Installed it earlier without incident. Football mode is gone and the front end is different. DV still looks just as dim as it did before. Hmm.

Glad it went well. Strange, I've not had the problem with DV being dim. On the same settings DV and HDR10 are pretty much the same.
Hmmm, to update or not?

So no raised color volume, less brightness or any other chances to the picture (settings) that you noticed? Been reading about people thinking that some things seem to have chanced after the update regarding picture performance?

I haven't done any objective measuring with a colourimeter, I can't be bothered right now. I just wanna watch some stuff rather than testing my TV for hours on end.
