I see it as they have 2 options + the 3rd unlikely option:
1. The cancel all the orders.
2. The cancel all orders that are back-ordered ("Ships in 1-3 weeks, 1-2 months etc), and only honour the ones that were ordered while "In Stock".
3. Unlikely - they honour all orders - but considering the possible hundreds of orders I doubt it.

I hold no grudge if they choose option 1 or 2, like I said in the Canadian thread, it seems fair to me.
#2 sounds good to me...

I see a 4th option. They may cancel all of the "excessive quantity" orders and still honour the 2 or 3 quantity orders. Highly unlikely, but still a possibility.

I don't understand how errors like this could happen.

option 5 - those with large orders see a $2000+ amazon bill and anarchy ensues

Well... there is a massive wind storm in Vancouver right now. If their servers are located anywhere in the viccinity, perhaps the wind was strong enough to penetrate into them and blow the decimals and numbers around, effectively scrambling them all up?

I just ordered 4 Blurays.
They don't charge you at Amazon until they ship, right?
So, they may cancel your order until charge, or they could cancel it after charging too and you get a refund?

By the way, if this is an error I'm sure they will find out in 24 hours or so, right?
Because they will see the loads of Criterion orders!
Previous time with me, it was the Looney Tunes Golden Collection fancy gift box, they listed it by mistake at the same price as the normal edition (so not nearly as big an error as here). It was OOS and after about two weeks I got an email telling me it was a pricing mistake and here's a $5 gift coupon for your trouble.

They don't charge until shipping, so no money changed hands. This makes option #2 a likely outcome, so try to order in stock items if you can

Can anyone comment on any quality distinctions between the Criterion copy of The Game and its standard release?

I ask because I already own it on Blu-ray. Is the Criterion presentation superior?

Doesnt seem to be any comparisons between the transfers.
Pretty sure the only difference is that Criterion has the extras and the Universal release doesnt.

Earlier this year, Amazon US briefly offered The Third Man blu-ray at the Criterion "SRP" of $39.95, as if it was in print and in stock. Knowing it has been OOP since 2009, I placed an order for the fun of it (I already have a copy - but hey, another would be nice ). And, stranger things have happened!

Anyway, the order confirm email said they needed a couple of extra days to ship. Then I got an email saying they were trying to obtain the item. Then one asking I confirm I still wanted it and they should continue trying to source. Then a final email saying they had cancelled the order. I saw the same thing recently with the DVD of Mafioso - available to order at the SRP as if in stock. It's on my list, but I didn't bite as the outcome seemed obvious.

I can't answer your question, but I guess stuff happens at Amazon when it comes to Criterion.

A lot of the films I was interested in have now been taken down, with only marketplace seller listings available. Of the four Wes Anderson films I ordered, only Bottle Rocket is still being offered by Amazon.ca.

I'm really interested to see what happens next.

Edit: Bottle Rocket is gone now.

Just ordered 16 of the ones left at ridiculous prices. Most of them I've previously had extremely little interest in seeing. But, hey, if this works out, I don't even care if I don't like them. I can sell them and easily make the money back.

I'm just while waiting for Macbeth to enter the shipping phase. It's actually the only 1 that I desperately NEED to have of the 6 that I ordered. The others are just icing on a rather delicious looking cake!

Seems like a great deal if you live in CA. I passed because of ridiculous shipping costs and an expected delivery of July to August.

Nearly picked up 20, until I saw the shipping was going to be $200 for me!

Not worth it at that price
