Are preordered movies part of the deal? I'd like to get 45 years but it comes out in March.

I thought it was a bit earlier than that the time before last, more like 10 am EST. I'm starting to watch now.

What are you all looking to buy? I've been spending money like a fish lately, and I might need surgery on my knee yet, as I wiped out doing my morning cardio last Saturday morning. Split my knee cap 90% of the way in half. Broke my wrist, too. So, I'm not doing my usual heavy buying. I have so many Criterions I'm trying to get caught up on, any more than that will just sit for a while.

Ouch. As a veteran of two bad knee injuries, I can relate. On the plus side, you will have plenty of time to catch up on those movies you haven't seen yet.

Gee, I know you're in a lot of pain and I hope that you heal fast after surgery. Prayers with you, buddy.

IF I decide to get anything, it'll be the 3 of 4 movies on my list (of titles already out )

F for Fake
The Immortal Story
Ikiru
Mildred Pierce

I'm not sure if I want to spend the money now.

This is why some believe there's a sale today. These were allegedly sent out to Criterion's biggest spenders:

Further evidence it's happening today:

Items now say "Ships Within 3 Business Days" instead of the normal "Ships Within 1 Business Day" in your cart.

I am doing much better on this front. I only have 3 criterions that I have not watched fully after buying, all 3 are multi-movie sets

David Lean Directs Noel Coward (watched 2/4 from this set, Need to watch remaining 2)
Wim Wenders: The Road Trilogy (watched 1/3 from this set, Need to watch remaining 2)
American Lost & Found: The BBS Story (watched 3 from this set, Need to watch 3, Do not plan to watch A Safe Place )

So total 7 to watch and out of these 7, I have watched Five Easy Pieces and Kings of the road before (not on criterion blu), there are only 5 that I have not watched ever.

Ready for the sale...

Thank you, reelgeek. We're trying to avoid surgery. The top of the cap looks like somebody took a meat tenderizer and smashed it in. About an inch just flattened in. And the crack goes almost all the way through, but not all the way. I see my orthopedic surgeon again in two weeks. If I can keep quiet enough to where it will heal for another 5 weeks or so, I can avoid going under the knife for a sixth time there (ACL rebuild, ACL replacement, two arthroscopic procedure to remove damaged meniscus tissue and a cyclops lesion post op, and a complete rebuild of a shattered femur). If that last bit cracks, he'll have to go in and wire the knee back together. I'm obviously hoping to avoid that. I've been working out 2-3 hours six days a week since October, and I'm trying like hell to get back to it as quickly as possible.

Yes, I'm catching up on a lot right now.

Yeah, you're doing much better than me. Trouble is, I got so many films (and tv seasons) so fast, it's a bit overwhelming from a sheer catch up perspective. I'd say I have yet to watch a little over 60 of the 145 Criterion films I have on blu-ray. I'm not concerned, as I'll watch them all (and I'll knock quite a few out over the next month and a half), but I still feel as if I'm doing this the right way. I'm going to do a lot of writing, so I want the movies always at my finger tips.

I'm getting closer to 1,000, but I've slowed down considerably. There are still at least another 400 films I want, but I've got enough to keep me busy for a good while. Now's the really fun part.

I'm going to try to get the Before Trilogy this morning once the sale goes live. I might pick up one more title. I'm deciding between The Exterminating Angel or Something Wild (1961). Any recommendations?

Woohoo! Flash sale!

Good as time as any to pick up some more Terrence Mallick (Days of Heaven is one I was on the fence about, but I'll take a chance and blind-buy Badlands too). If my wallet doesn't cry about it too much, I might blind-buy His Girl Friday too.

Tempted to get that Criterion book of cover art. Don't think I want to spend the dough on it right now though.

I'm wanting the Before Trilogy, too, but I'm going to hold off until I've seen all three films. All I have is Before Midnight.

What kinds of films are you looking for? And, are you into documentaries? I'm happy to help with some recommendations if you can give us some rough sketches.

It's up to you but according to the reviews here, Something Wild seems to have better PQ, just FYI

My Criterion cart is loaded and I'm ready to place an order in 30 minutes. I'm biting the bullet and getting Eclipse Series complete, picking up the Janus 50 set and the three BDs that I need from February. I grabbed $450 of gift certificates when they had the double point sale back in December so not too much damage to the wallet.
It's been a long time coming, but I'll finally be 5" disc complete after today!

Also just received my $39.95 Before Trilogy from Amazon. I hope Jeff Bezos survives me taking complete advantage of him.

My list so far, really tempted on the Dekalog but not sure I want to spend that much today. Of course with the B&N sales nerfed this is as good a time as any.

I really want some new merch in the shop though.

Only Tree of Wooden Clogs for me since I don't usually wait for sales. This one kind of flew under the radar after I'd forgotten about the initial delay. The additional 10% member discounts apply, correct?
