I give Kristen Stewart a lot of credit. She chooses some interesting projects. I'm not familiar with the franchise that made her a star but she was very good in Clouds of Sils Maria (where it would've been easy to look very bad alongside Binoche) and good in Cafe Society. I'm really looking forward to Certain Women and Personal Shopper.

I will say, we're way, way overdue for another Lloyd or Chaplin.

They are both fantastic. Her segment of Certain women is easily the best thing filmed this year. It's exceptional.

She's become so awesome lately it blows my mind. I will be checking out "Certain Women", that's the only one I have not seen I think.

Welp, the absence of NotLD is surely disappointing. However, the inclusion of Vampyr certainly makes up for it.

Now all we need is Haxan.

First of all, Vampyr.....

It's about time we got some more Dreyer!!!!! Now I can grab Master of the House next week from the B&N sale to tide me over until I get the BFI set.

This just made my day!!!

I've got the bare bones Barry Lyndon. Of course, I just opened and watched it the week before last. I'll get the Criterion, though. /wrings hands gleefully contemplating the Kubrick extras.

---

The Passion import is magnificent! But I would still jump all over a Criterion blu-ray just to have it in region A. That's a film I'd like to loan out to friends. I'll do the same with the Criterion MotH.

Best month ever!

Does anyone know about the source materials for Vampyr? I'd read they were so bad that a blu upgrade was unlikely. Has the technology improved so much?

It's very likely the same source used for the DVD, perhaps with a few digital tweaks. It hasn't received any new restoration or anything from what I can see.

She is fantastic. She is quickly rising up to be one of my favorite actors working today. I'm also glad more people are coming around to her as an actor.

Yes, please, on Ambersons. I completely forgot about that. It's on my want list, too.

I have the SB Steelbook(one of my first & still one of my faves) & the release is great, loaded with features. Definitely my fave Wright film. Would love to see an O'Malley cover

Got the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy boxset & don't really care for them to be made into Criterions

You ever seen this Promo vid by Wright?

Agreed, it's a good substitute for Notld. I'll take it!

I was impressed by Kristen's work in Clouds of Sils Maria. As has been previously referenced, it would be very easy to be intimidated by Juliette Binoche.

That was my introduction to her work as an actress. What else should I be checking out?

Certain Woman and Personal Shopper obviously. Speak, the Cake Eaters, Still Alice, Welcome to the Rileys, The Runaways, Adventureland are all good places to start. She's been wonderful for awhile. A lot of people just can't get past the whole Twilight thing which, ironically, she's actually great it. That is exactly how that character is in the book. It's just a god awful character. But she played it perfectly.

Vampyr is a buy for me, but probably not for a few months or so.
