I actually didn't mind Jellyfish Eyes. Then again I grew up with Pokémon, playing the Gameboy games and watching the anime from the get go. This film seems to have been heavily inspired by it.

Based on 2017 New Year's drawings, 16 candles has to appear by December 2017, Isn't it? If so, we only have 2 months to go...
So November box might include that one...

A Safe Place is objectively speaking the worst movie of all time - it's a widely known scientific fact.

But to be fair, they only released it as a part of the BBS box set... And A Safe Place is, for better or worse, one of the 7 BBS movies. They would've never released it on its own. It doesn't even have its own disc on the box set, but shares it with Drive, He Said, which is considered the second worst BBS movie and I personally like very much.

If I recall correctly, there have been films hinted at in New Year clues that didn't come to fruition until years later.

This was addressed when the "Lodger / Downhill" release was announced, so I don't remember all the details, but the problem with such a hypothetical box set is that other distributors have the rights to some of the films. Criterion has some, but I want to say maybe Cohen (?) has the rest. Annoying, but as long as somebody releases them eventually.

This joke almost works, but Broderick isn't in the sequel!

It's about time!

Julie Warner (Tommy Boy) has a topless scene in Doc Hollywood, which is rated PG-13. I saw an interview with her one time where she was lamenting the fact that she has "PG-13 breasts."

The worst for me, while not one film but many is the Hollis Frampton Odyssey. Only Criterion out of all I own I want to sell.
I also don't like Assayas (thought Clouds of Sils was bad) and I just don't think Kiarostami is for me after seeing Certified Copy.

The only other ones in the collection are ones I feel I need to gain an understanding of personally. Except for Blow Up, which I had seen and thought was quite good, I don't get Antonioni. Still have not seen La Notte and I did pick up an earlier film of his (Le Amiche) this sale cause it interested me

I could also name a few that I know will get better but just didn't take the first time.
Three Colors Trilogy
Solaris
Can't think of the other at the moment

And one that has already upon a rewatch.
Seven Samurai. Honestly wasn't a big fan the first time but I revisited this week and it was excellent. Cool to see it now after Ikiru especially to see Takashi Shimura follow up that role (mummy [emoji3] )with such a commanding role

And I know Tiny Furniture gets pooped on but I remember thinking it was pretty decent. No expectations will do that. Might not ever buy it but I can rewatch in Netflix if I want, for now

Now that they do Warner Bros. stuff on a regular basis maybe they can put out Femme Fatale (2002) since they've put out a few Brian De Palma films.

Hey, Guys -- does anyone know of the last few OOP titles from Criterion?

I keep holding out hope for The Grand Budapest Hotel, but I feel like someone mentioned months back it won't come until 2018.

Makes sense because I think that's when Wes Anderson's next film is coming out.

Not sure if this is up-to-date, but not many Criterion BD have gone OOP:

Note: PlayTime is available in the Tati set, just not as a stand-alone any more.

I think you're right but there's still one clue left unsolved, the window. Sixteen Candles is the last to be announced from the rest.

New Years clues don't necessarily mean the films hinted at are slated for the calendar year. Bitter Rice and Y Tu Mama Tambien, for example.

There are also several BD-DVD combos that are OOP, such as Thief, Throne of Blood and the It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World digipak which are only available as BD only releases now.

Not just available, but upgraded as well, it's a better transfer than the stand-alone.

As far as a movie that doesn't deserve to be there I'm a little stumped. I'm curious to see if there's any general consensus on a movie that is really debatable as to why it's in the collection.
A Safe Place is pretty poor, but the all time stinker in the collection is:

*DRUM ROLL*

BORDER RADIO

Totally unwatchable.
