That was my impression, too.

Mill Creek only has the animated Godzilla, doesn't it?

looking at my collection Godzilla movies was released by Kraken, Sony, [Anno's Shin] Funimation, Classic Media and Tokyo Shock. So would it also include Sony releases and the rest or would it be just the Kraken releases that they would get and put in the boxset?

Not me! They have way more I'd ever have time to watch. Plus a few things they haven't even released on blu-ray!!!

The costs of that would be unsustainable. Peter Becker explains in a new interview - https://decider.com/2019/04/08/the-c...ker-interview/

Quote:
“We can’t just have [Wes Anderson’s 1996 film] Bottle Rocket parked at the Criterion Channel forever, because we can’t afford to do that,” Becker explained. “The whole collection includes films from major studios that will rotate through on the short term licenses.” By “short term,” Becker added, he means “at least three months, and sometimes longer—six months, two years, five years, etc.”

Awesome. I'll get the Kindle version, so I can instantly download it, and take it with me to the coffee shop. Thank you so much!

I suspect they're still adding features, but they'll have everything they have streaming rights to indefinitely while rotating stuff they don't (i.e. anything owned by major studios or other labels). Just like Filmstruck.

Here's some of the stuff you'll find on there:
Most Kurosawa (all but five of his films)
Most Bergman (everything from the big set)
Most of the Olympics set
Most Kieslowski
All Tati
All but one Eisenstein
Lots of Ozu, Naruse, Mizoguchi, Oshima, Itami, etc.
Cassevetes' self-produced films (Shadows, Faces, Killing of a Chinese Bookie)
Handmade Films (Time Bandits, Withnail & I, Mona Lisa, The Long Good Friday, etc)

It's sad how no one is ever happy with anything and expects the world for free.

Interview with Peter Becker and Penelope Bartlett about The Criterion Channel. Of interest to this forum, he said that their Blu-ray sales have been up for the for the past two years.

I downloaded the new App to my Firestick just now and logged in. Everything was working fine. But when I tried to watch something I got this - "This device does not support secure video playback." I can't play anything. What the heck?

Did you contact customer support? I'm sure it must be a glitch.

No you can't. And if you could, you'd get tired of all the winning.

Default Criterion Channel

Yeah, I'm just.....so shockingly disappointed with the Channel. Been anticipating this sucker for months, and now

A) I have trouble accessing any films, let alone the supposed 1,000 we were promised. Why is there not a simple "List of Movies" button where you can scroll through everything alphabetically, like on their store? Or is there one, and I'm just too dumb to find it?

B) Nothing works on my PS4. I really just had to assume that since going on the web browser function lets me watch HD movies from Kanopy and Youtube that the Criterion Channel would also play....but all I get is a rotating square, nothing seems to play. I'm not gonna go buy a goddamned Apple TV just to watch this stuff, considering I'm still going to happily collect the BR's.

Well....yeah, I dunno. Is anyone else having issues with this stuff? Maybe it's just an "opening day jitters" type thing, with all the glitches and bugs still to be worked out on their end...or maybe it's just completely useless in this particular house of mine. Damn.

Movie Crazy would have been a great silent perhaps. The Cat's Paw is interesting, and so is The Milky Way I suppose, but I wouldn't call either of them good films.

The Sin of Harold Diddlebock is none of my business.

So the Criterion channel isn't up to much yet eh fellas? Guess they still want to sell discs

Got one question... Are people really downloading the CC app and watching these films on their 5" iPhones, or am I reading these posts wrong??????

Please tell me this is not the way people enjoy films these days, especially when they are posting on a blu-ray forum.....

Sorry, my mini-rant for the day...
