Stopped at Barnes & Noble today and picked up a sole Criterion title—I went hog wild during the last sale and filled in a lot of gaps in my collection, so there's not much I'm pining for Criterion-wise (already have Citizen Kane pre-ordered). I decided to grab this given B&N's standard $50 price tag on it, and also took advantage of the 50% off on Arrow titles as well (got Gas Food Lodging and Scalpel, which have both been on my "want to buy" list for awhile now—my B&N was surprisingly well-stocked with Arrow stuff).

Amazon are matching two different offers, and it makes for some great deals. They of course are matching B&N's half-off sale, but now they have a copycat sale to Target's B2G1 deal too.

Both combine on several Criterion titles, and more are being added:

$19.99 titles:

All About Eve
Grand Budapest Hotel
Portrait of a Lady on Fire
Taste of Cherry

And others:

True Stories - $24.99
The Human Condition - $29.99
Bruce Lee Set - $62.99

Additionally, for several titles that don't qualify for the B2G1 offer, there are discount coupons applied. This is probably the lowest you'll find many Criterion titles. The Irishman for instance is $19.99 plus a $3.66 coupon

Watched We Were Kings, which had been sitting on the shelf since five or six sales ago.

I had a good feeling I'd find it a worthwhile pick up and I did. Loved it, as a matter of fact.
I would have liked to have seen more vintage video material, and especially more content that would give Foreman his due, but the film itself was outstanding.

While I don't always gravitate to them as purchases, as I get older I seem to find more entertainment value in a good doc, and they hold my interest better than most films nowadays.

Thinking about buying Clouds of Sils Maria.

Loved Personal Shopper. Good for a blind buy?

If you don't have it already, I'd recommend Summer Hours instead of Sils Maria. It's my favorite Assayas movie, right behind Personal Shopper.

I really liked it! If you loved Personal Shopper, I say go for it! It’s more drama focused than Personal Shopper, less supernatural.

I'd check these Assayas movies about movies out before Sils:

Strongly considering buying the piano teacher (which I haven't seen yet) and the showa Godzilla collection with the 50 percent discount criterion is doing this month. Also thinking about buying The magnificent Ambersons and Solaris.

Can you watch before you buy? Maybe on the Criterion Channel or through a local library? That's what I always do.

Except with Bergman, where you went all in, and bought the box set

Actually, I've done it a few times. I bought the Zatoichi box set and I had never seen one of those movies. I also bought the Bergman set, but I got a really good price and I had seen a number of those movies before. I just bought the Fellini set at a great price, but I had only seen one or two of his films. I'm regretting the purchase of this set somewhat, as I am not enjoying most of these films. If I had to do it over again I'd probably watch at least a few before buying.

Going blind into the Zatoichi set seems to always work out.

(I'm not blind, I just have my butler read the internet for me. He's typing this now)
