Yes...I'm home sick today and am streaming it right now on NetFlix and noticed the same thing.

My first time seeing this film. I'm really enjoying it...it's much different than I expected it to be. I might wind up purchasing this as well.

Fwiw, the U.S. version probably comes out to be a little cheaper; the packaging is different if you have a preference one way or the other for book (U.K.) vs whatever Lionsgate put out here.

Une Femme Mariee is stunning, should be in every blu-ray collection.
I'm ordering Une Femme Mariee from the UK, but someone in the trading forum has the French-version (haha right!) of Le Mepris for $20 shipped, and I think that comes with the book, and is also region A friendly too.... so we shall see.

It's not that it's a bad film, but in my opinion it could've been so much more. I also would strongly argue against The Red Shoes. As it's a ballet film, it's really not for everyone (even more so than most of the other Criterions available on blu).
Not surprisingly, these are 2 I would highly recommend for the opposite reasons. Wages, and Clouzot films in general, are considered cornerstone films of the suspense/thriller genre. Its influence on films after it is vast and is a must-see IMO. The Red Shoes is frankly one of the most beautifully shot films ever made. Its story has nothing to do with it being a ballet film and everything to do with the struggles of an artist. I agree with your other selections, but you left off M, which is consistant in its context with Wages.

After you view it, think of the 400 Blows and it seems to make sense.

Beta, I think that is Rich that has one of those. It is the exact same disc as the UK one, but beware, the booklet will be in French only.

Well..... I did take 7 years of French, but that was 17 years ago! I guess I'll just pony up for the UK one.... (basically I added two titles to my "basket" , dragged my feet for awhile, and now I'm buying what I was going to buy yesterday anyways )

I certainly don't disagree with anything you mention--there's no doubt that both the Red Shoes and Wages are highly influential films. I do love Diabolique...

I guess my disappointment with Wages stemmed from such a high anticipation in seeing it, coupled with expectations it simply wouldn't be able to meet. I do agree that it does an excellent job of creating tension, I just wish the characters were more likeable because at least in my opinion, it would've enhanced the film. Regardless, it's certainly worth seeing.

I completely agree. I saw 400 Blows a few years before I saw Au Revoir, Les Enfantes. The two films go very well together, and I think are both among the finest childhood films ever. If I had to pick one over the other, I'd pick Au Revoir, due to its subject matter. It's interesting that both have such memorable concluding images, btw.

I caught Au Revoir Les Enfants last week for the first time and was kind of blown away. It's such a delicate, subtle film. I can't wait to get my hands on the Blu-ray.

Taken from criterionforum.org taken from Criterion's Facebook page...

Inside the warehouse... I'm assuming this is in Kentucky, which I believe is the only Criterion shipping warehouse.

I know, it's like the big 'dramatic' ending shot of Indiana Jones. What, nobody's ever seen a room full of crates before?

yup. I wouldn't worry about it. They got completely pummeled with orders. Unfortunately for me, I got my order in about 5 minutes before the sale ended... so I probably won't get a shipping confirmation for about 2 weeks. :-D
