Upon inspecting the booklet again there is also some scoring along the edge of the booklet.

I'm assuming the rest of yours that have reported damage look the same or worse.
Mine actually isn't that bad...a 1/4" tear in the middle of the long edge...

The only $6.00 blu I'm considering is Casino...wonder if it's worth a purchase?

I certainly will now

Eh, Casino is probably worth six bucks. It's definitely no GoodFellas but it's worth watching once and has enough replay value to make owning at least marginally more appealing than renting.

That is a steal, in my opinion. A true masterpiece.

I couldn't believe it. I had read about it on here before, but didn't think it'd ever happen to me.
The BD was shrink wrapped, but no disc inside.

How can this happen?

Anyway, Amazon.com is sending me a new copy, so at least I am going to have a spare cover, which is cool.

I just finished watching Broadcast News, and I loved it!
This is such a wonderfully written film.
I like many a James L. Brooks film, and this one sure is one of them.

Film: 4,5
PQ: 4+
AQ: 4
I had that happen with Season 2 of Criminal Minds on DVD, all 6 discs were missing. That was a hassle and half trying to get an exchange out of Future Shop, what saved me was buying Seasons 1 and 3 with it. I think someone did a RMA and they just reshrinked it, because Halifax Future Shop sucks.

I ordered Black Narcissus today. I was going to get a couple more off my list that had dropped, but I found a few other non-Criterion releases I wanted more, and most were blind buys. I'll hold out for the B&N sale in July, and hope it's between July 2nd and 10th, as my parents will be in the New England states then.

I think everyone could do a lot worse than spending 1hr. 40min. watching "Four Lions." I just streamed it on Netflix and, although I found it a bit slow in the very beginning, I really warmed up to the comedy of the film through to the end. I had not heard of the film until seeing the Academy Awards this year, but I recommend checking it out if you get the chance.

Return of the Living Dead. BTW, is that all the $6 blu-rays (at the top of the page) or is there more?

Just watched "The White Ribbon"

I thought there were Criterion rumors for this? Either way, I think I'll have to buy it.

naah Sony got that one apparently, and the bd they put out is fantastic.
very interesting and intense film.
I got the bd during one of the few great Sony classics sales some site had a while back.
it's usually pretty pricey.
had to make the Criterion thread my 2000th post!
HOORay for me!

Thanks for the feedback on Casino...will have to ponder this a bit...

Spidey...based on your mentioning it and it being on the NetFlix/Criterion axe list for 5/26, I checked out "Ballad of a Soldier"...the wife and I both liked it a lot. Thanks!

I'd like to see "Solaris" by the weekend...if I like it enough, I might order it before the sale...we'll see...it's been an expensive month.

looking at the package pic over at Criterion Forum and it looks just white font on the spine to me. It could be the DVD edition isn't? It must just be the light hitting the plastic wrap.

The LD\CD\DVD\BD industry in Japan makes criterion's timely OOPs look generous. Three years after *any* release, things go automatically OOP unless tremendous sales demand a reprint. Mind you, 95% (99%?) of people here don't collect films ($50 for most DVD releases until a few years ago, the Bladerunner 5-disc BD set was $200), there is a strong "burn a BD-R off TV" and "rent it at Geo/Tsutaya for 80 yen then copy" mentality.

Solaris looks great, considering the only time I saw it was a really crappy rip of the Criterion DVD i found a few years back. Can't wait. Also would be very pleased if Universal gave us the remake which is just as good, though for different reasons. The White Ribbon has a fantastic release so I don't know why Criterion would bother.
