It's pretty hit-and-miss when it comes to receiving replies from Jon. They desperately need more staff to handle enquiries from the public because it seems as though Jon is doing it all.

Jon is a nice guy. I've actually talked to him on the phone as well as by e-mail and he's always very friendly and listens to suggestions. He's definitely overwhelmed in the e-mail department and admitted as much to me.

I Finally got my Criterions from the Valentine's day sale, and found out that my Red Desert case came with 3 identical discs :S, has this happened to anyone else?

Anyway if anybody is interested on the disc only just pm me, maybe we can arrange something.

If you haven't already, make sure to play each disc to make sure the content is the same first, so that there hasn't also been an error in disc art. It's not likely, but since a couple of people ran into disc-art errors, there's always the possibility.

I ordered 8 backordered Criterions from their Valentine's sale. When I was checking out, they said all 8 would ship around 3/2. I checked earlier today and all 8 titles were back in stock. I did check the optioin to ship in as few shipments as possible. No pending charge yet. Think I should email them or wait til Friday evening? It's the first time I ordered directly from them.

I just checked mine again. Looks like all mine are in-stock now and the shipping estimate has been removed from my order (there is no ship date showing at all)...I hope that means they're being sent soon, although I'm still not charged for it

Thanks for that update! Yeah, my invoice doesn't have 3/2 ship date anymore either. I hope they ship out before the weekend. How many titles did you order?

Hell, I just want that movie on Blu-ray regardless if it's Criterion or not at this point.

4 titles: 3 Blu-rays and 1 Eclipse set, one was a 2/28 pre-order

I think Breathless is more accessible and the safer blind buy of the two, but I personally like Pierrot Le Fou more.

Factor in to the other two responses that Pierrot Le Fou is out of print, and no telling when remaining stocks will finally be depleted. Breathless I was a little underwhelmed by (but not much), Pierrot Le Fou is pretty decent and if you're getting more and more into Godard, may as well go for it.

Sure hope Criterion puts out another Godard on blu-ray before too long.

That is why I would say go for Pierrot Le Fou, so you don't miss your chance! I personally prefer it as well (even though I feel Breathless is a better introduction to his work)

This. Interesting how everyone is forgetting Vivre sa vie though.

I swear Pierrot le fou is the easiest OOP title to come by, and so many people are trying to jack the price up on it, when you can buy it brand new from amazon or B&N. It just doesn't seem to dwindle in supply.

I would prefer that Sony release it and that they give it the "Criterion treatment". But yeah, of the iconic Hollywood films of the 40s & 50s that need a hi-def release, it's pretty near the top of my list.
