On another note, this hulu Criterion sale looks good. Don't know if I should buy Wages of Fear and Solaris, or just wait.

*YAWN* Geez...I take a short nap and I wake up in the past...haven't had a chance to count my losses. Bummer! And I had recently passed Beta in the number of posts in this thread to takeover third place.

Jess...you weren't far off from taking fourth place yourself.

Well...I'm glad everyone is OK. Let's just get a quick head count and I'll send out for coffee and danish...

Something similar happened in the AVS forum a year or two ago...this is what I do for a living and I know how crapppy you can feel when you're not able to do a complete restore of a crashed database.

Well...no more tears...I plan to watch the last of the AE Mizo blu boxset films this morning....just brewing coffee first.

And Jess...I never got my Yellow Submarine for the weekend...my selfishness got the best of me and I bought a copy at Best Buy for $17.99. I'll get my copy from Amazon next week and just return it unopened to Best Buy with a receipt. No one gets hurt and I get to watch/listen to it TODAY!

Have a nice weekend everyone...good to see you all in one piece. I thought I'd never see any of you again!

Rich

Did watch Yellow Submarine last night. Had been a long while since had last seen it (1986 or 87 I think) I was wondering why I never got the DVD and sort of look into it. Was release in 2003 but I never really saw it anywhere in stores (wasn't buying much online until about 2007 or so)

Yeah Pat...users are just a royal pain in the ass. This is what I do for a living and even those that post on this website who claim to be network people still don't know about cost and the unpredictability of networks. Sh*t happens and it's tough enough cleaning up after the mess, but to deal with second guessers and idiots is just adding insult to injury...but unfortunately, it's a part of the job. I had some messy clean up recently from a cut over from physical servers to "virtual servers" or VMs. Suffice it to say is was quite a stressful two weeks recently.

What did you think about the blu-ray? I'm going to check it out a bit later, but am really looking forward to the DTS-HD 5.1 mix. I liked the mix from the DVD, but knew it would sound greatly improved on blu. And the reviews I've read so far have raved about the sound...besides the picture looking significantly better than the DVD.

At the risk of sounding like a 6-year old, Canada post failed yo delover Yellow Submarine. It sat in Halifax since Thursday morning, and won't be delivered until Monday, because they are lame. I have other stuff to watch though

I admit that readding the stuff is annoying, but shit happens. It's only a film collection, it's nothing serious like say, a thesis paper or all your government records. People on this forum are too high strung, they need to HP watch the films they buy, rather than leave them in the packaging to ***** about them.

It's a very nice release, at least for me. I know there was a lot of complaint from the "screen caps police" in the official thread but I don't have any complaint about it. The funny thing about those that complaint, in general it's the same people for every movie. You see their name in thread after thread for every releases complaining that it's a bad release and it's horrible and bla bla bla bla. You just see the same names always complaining, it's funny.

They're only happy when they're complaining.

Agreed. No matter how bad it is for all of us, it is MUCH worse for the people running the site. Why complain about something that we don't even have to pay for?

I plan on watching YS tonight or tomorrow as a double feature with Harold and Maude, two of my favorite quirky films.

It'll help me feel better after learning most of what I've posted on this site was within the seven week period of lost data. (Not bothered by any data entry, but I made many posts that were deeply thought or felt; such is life).

Must be otherwise I can't phantom why they would be doing it

Hope you get Yellow Submarine soon, very fun to wacth it last night and it had been years for me too. The only thing is that this time around the fact it was not the Beatles voice was very noticable, so it did feel a bit weird. It's really too bad they never put their voices to the movie
