Just watched my Criterion Bluray of Paris, Texas. I never had seen the film before. What a great, beautiful, simple movie. No pretentions, just it is what it is. They don't make American movies like this anymore. Kinski is classic beauty. A masterpiece. The supplements are a treat as well. I didn't watch them all, but the Wim Wenders interview was extremely entertaining. What particularly interested me was when Wenders talked about the initial reaction of American critics to the film of being very negative, mostly because (and this isn't a quote) "some foreigner isn't gonna show us Americans what America is like." I also found very interesting watching Stanton recount how badly at the time, and still to this day, he wanted to kill Wenders after (spoiler alert) he found out that Travis' character was not gonna end up with the family. There's also a fairly thick book included in the case with a fine interview with the film's sceen writer Sam Shepard. Highly recommend ANY fan of great film to add it to your collection.

Yes Please! As long as the extras are great I'm happy. It'll be a shame if it has as few extras as 3 Women and other $40 releases with barely anything on them.
As far as the other Lynch films, I just need elephant man and Straight Story as the German Lynch box set is absolutely awesome. |

Eraserhead was the best of the recent Universal UK releases of Lynch's films and it'll be interesting to see what new extras Criterion produces. Last edited by Cinemach; 01-01-2013 at 03:40 PM. |

Oshima's Boy would make me very happy. Not exactly one of my favourites from Oshima, but damn would it look great on Blu.
